I have actually fished the Rio Malleo in Junin de los Andes (which would be the last town you pass thru to get to the volcano Lanin).
Been to San Martin and it’s very touristy. If you want the experience of a sleepy little pueblo, try staying there in Junin. You’ll also be closer to some prime fly fishing waters.
