accept grower older gracefully with zest, vigor, and humor

Now, if I could just get the zest, vigor, and humor part down. I just need to give up the ghost and go home.

Ahhhh well, life is good. It’s a beautiful day. My daughter’s birthday also. Yes, she was born on my birthday. The best birthday present ever! If only we were spending the day together. Soon.

I know that I’m getting older because we had to take longer and more frequent rest breaks. Plus, my husband was the one throwing the hay off the haywagon up to the loft. I was the one stacking the bales in the loft, so I had the easy part. Yes, I definitely need more vigor. I don’t think I’ll be able to stack hay in the hayloft when I’m eighty. But the father of the farmer who farms our fields is eighty, and he helps bale hay. Most of the time he drives the tractor, but he’s still out there working in the heat. He’s my hero.

I seriously need to look for another line of work if I plan on getting any older.

I know this is a selfish wish, but I’ve seen and taken care of too many people with this disease. I will soon be the age my father was when he died. I still miss him, cherish him, and wish I’d spent more time with him.

END. I don’t want to wrinkle up and blow away. Growing older limits one’s horizons and opportunities. I must think of some way to think about it differently.
Laughter sure helps and good friends. I’ll have to work on the zest and vigor part.
