How to learn how to silkscreen

How I did it: I have wanted to make shirts since I was in second grade. I have never been able to get the knowledge nor have I ever had both the time and money at the same time to just jump into doing it.
Previously people have said they were going to help and/or teach me, but that has always fallen through. Everyone else I have met that knows something about printing won't help anyone. So I figured it out by reading some books and website as well as lots of trial and error. I have lots of room for improvement but I am silk screening shirts and that is a huge step.
Now that I am making shirts, I can finally sell something on my website Silver Eclipse
Lessons & tips: Use Ulano QTX Emulsion instead of speed ball photo emulsion. It has longer shelf life, shorter drying, shorter exposure time and is cheaper.
Don't be scared to mess up your first few attempts at making a screen. Anticipate it and accept that it is probably going to happen.
Buy a scoop coater, and if you are going to use dark fabric you will need ink for dark fabrics.

Seems like it takes a lot of time… and i’m impatient!!! :( I will try my hand at it though! I really want to make my own t-shirts!

the art department at my school has all these crazy prereq’s (art history, art theory, intro to drawing, intro to 3d design, etc.)
before you can take the silkscreening class. lame!
Tricky at first, though very fun

Starting to silkscreen is a little tricky especially if you do not have any special equipment and such to get the expose time perfect or to perfectly center the design. Though it is easy to learn and once you start up it is hard to stop

this is a great way to express your art. the technique is easy. It can be messy but the result is rewarding.
