I’ve written some amazing scripts, but I feel like its crucial to get into film school before I try filming them. My dream is to shoot a film in Japan! how cool
How I did it: My high school drama teacher gave me an advertisement for a school in my state. I arranged a tour and went up to see it. I was very impressed and got an application. I spent the better part of a month writing an essay and finally sent it in. A week later, they called me back and I went in for an interview. They accepted me on the spot. I then spent the whole summer looking for housing in the new town. Got my self a house and some roommates, we got to know each other and we're all in the same program. School just started, so I am now officially a film school student, possibly the most exciting thing that I've ever done. I can't wait to make my first movie. So far so good, in the world od film school.
Lessons & tips: Apply early. I cut it really close and almost didn't get in. The sooner you apply (and get accepted) the more time you will have to secure your spot and find housing.
Resources: The internet! Keep communication strong between you and the school and you have a better chance because they will see you as highly dedicated. it worked well for me.

Once my son is in college I’ll be able to explore this more seriously. Only 4 years to go.
Although how I’ll pay for his college while also trying to pay for my film school still isn’t clear…

I’ve been in love with film making and writing screen plays since I was in the third grade. (I used to draw pictures and write dialogue to go with them during math lessons. Hehe.) Right now, in my life, I don’t think I’m ready to apply for any kind of college but maybe in a few years when I’m feeling more confident about myself I can start thinking seriously about it.
bricwashere its a Carly weekend!
i want to go to film school so bad, i am only in high school and i plan on taking high school classes. i have a youtube channel. and all
right now i think this is what i want to do.
amidst all the senior year planning and people forcing me to choose a college and after many many whimsical career path choices, I think I would like to work in movies.
particularly with ideas .
I really want to turn my dreams into movies.

I first wanted to go into teaching history as a career but now I hope its not too late to switch and go to film school to become a writer and director…. money is an issue since ive spent so much at an expensive private university…. also, the school i want to attend is in florida and my family and long time girlfriend are in minnesota… we will see what pans out as i talk to everyone about my dreams
So I was ready to start in January but unexpectedly I had to travel for work. But it seems like finally I’m starting a project back home again. So hopefully I’ll start taking some classes in June. yay
I’ve decided on applying to NYU next year for early decision. I’ve always loved film and the process behind making the magic happen, but for some reason I couldn’t picture myself actually doing it. After film camp last summer, I realized how much I connect with the industry and I can’t not see myself in film. I’m obsessed. I’m saving up for a good camera, so I can perfect my portfolio. It feels so good (finally!) to realize what I want to make of my life!!
The girl below “RevolutionBarbie”. That’s too bad. I’ve always been interested and in awe of movies. I never saw myself to MAKE them. Youtube came along, and I started to pick up a camera and making stupid little films… but it gave me the feel of the camera- angles and such. I also started making Machinima movies using The Sims2. It was when I showcased these that I kept getting comments, “WOW you should go into movies as a career” etc that started to make me think. One of my friends who I talk to online lives in CA… and is a very smart and successful woman.. who also told me she hopes I shoot for this. I AM an artsy, I AM a creative person.. and I can do this. I realized I really want to do this. I am going to take some film workshops soon. :) Film School though? I don’t have a lot of money… but who knows…... hopefully something can be worked out.
