Amazing 16 months ago
The trip was just brilliant from beginning to end. CC SoapDragon has already delivered a full account we guessed she was sneaking off and writing things! but some highlights for me were:
  • the boat trip round the Oslo fjord and the whiffiness of A’s fishflakes
  • the picnic in the park, watching people set fire to their “one-way grills” and seeing Agatha get supexited when she found a huge stick
  • walking on the roof of the new opera house – absolutely stunning! I have a little leaflet with a picture of it which is going on my happy wall at work first thing tomorrow
  • the folk dancing at the folk museum! Pluck herrings all round!
  • the I Ching evening – Silvie gave us all some special beads and we had to programme them and then ask them questions! This led to great hilarity when CC turned out to be an Arrogant Dragon. Makes a lot of sense ;)
  • making cocktails using a jar of chickpeas! I should add that we took the chickpeas out first. We invented the Black Poodle (gin, blueberry jam and muddled blackberries), the Blue Poodle (just gin and blueberry jam) and the Meloncholy (rum and watermelon juice)
  • the Kon-Tiki museum and the Easter Island statue! Can’t believe I didn’t get an Easter Island mug. Must go back to Oslo very soon to rectify this extraordinary omission now do you realise why I didn’t get it? ;)
  • the Munch museum and the possibility of buying a Scream blanket, cheery stuff!
  • lots of pizza
  • the delicious berries Z and A procured from the mountains
  • CC’s extraordinary ability to sing God Save the Queen through a rolled up tongue – Z filmed this so hopefully we can all watch it on Youtube in the near future.

The second international gathering of the breakfast martini gang 16 months ago

was so much fun! Coctail inventions, magic bracelets, fishpudding eyes, flying dragons, picnicing, morris (or herring) dancing (although disappointingly not performed by snowleopard), good food, german stop/walk signs holding dogs, curlywurlies and scary caves were just a few of the interesting things during the weekend. Zanna and Alb also managed to do impressively sporty things such as jogging in the morning and picking berries, while the rest of us sat around drinking coffee and then went to another cafe for more coffee, and then ate the berries when they came home with them. I had bought the gang some excellent Nordkapp black crowberry wine, which we had on the last evening, with rather interesting response from certain parts of the gang. Snowleopards first reaction was yelling ” OH, BLOODY H*” (just toning her down here, not to offend crowberry lovers) and Silvie thoughtfully added “Well, it is interesting Northcrap” And then after thinking for about half an hour, added “Well, it does have a nice color”. But after another bottle, everyone agreed that it was growing on them, Snowleopard got her title of 43T queen of all things beverage and peanut back, and we all moved on to comparing fingers to determine if our fingers are male or female. The poodles very much enjoyed being included in the fun, and went around the room to demand bellyrubs. Agatha also demonstrated how intelligent poodles manage to get as much liver paste as possible, simply by leaving their owner when in the park, and then stand somewhere waiting to be called in, to get an opprotunity to be superobedient and come running and get a treat. And repeat.
Now we`re just waiting to find out if HP liked the fishpudding!
Clearly, we must start planning the next BM gathering very soon!

I`m having a brilliant time 16 months ago

with the breakfast martini gang! It`s been too busy to post much. But there have been plenty of highlights. For instance: the invention of two new coctails (the blue poodle and the black poodle), The I Ching bracelets Silvie made for everyone They have all sorts of powers, including the ability to help one make decisions. I asked it about staying in my current job, and it replied that dragons are flying in the heavens, and it`s important not to be an arrogant dragon. Clearly a genius bracelet, it even knows I`m a dragon!), the scary caves at the kon-tiki museum, that for some reason had some sort of device that blows air in ones face very suddenly) my favorite tacky shop (Snow leopard shockingly turned down the opportunity to buy a lovely dolphin that had a flower in it`s mouth and played a song) and lots of good food. Good times!
Now I`m off to the (sigh) last martini party of this visit. We must definitely start planning the next gathering immediately!

SIGATBMG Checklist 16 months ago

- Get ice done
-coctail shaker and glasses at the ready done
-pringles ahem, must get more tomorrow
-get casa curlychaos into a reasonably descent state of coctail party readiness well, getting closer. I cleaned the floors today at least. Ofcourse, the poodles much prefer floors to be covered in sand and paw prints, and will make very sure the floors are back to their poodle cosiness before you get here. But at least I can honestly claim I have been cleaning
-Check weather forecast for packing advise:Hm. They keep changing it. Now it says lovely weather thursday and friday, and then quite a lot of clouds and rain. Hopefully they will change it back to more sunny days, but definitely pack both goggles, swimsuits and waterproof things. (or, well, umbrellas and long sleeves).

Zonino!!

I have my guidebook now 16 months ago

complete with brilliant map to ensure that no agents get lost during the trip.

The guidebook contains many photos of people in traditional Norwegian costume, and some of them even appear to be doing what can only be described as the Norwegian equivalent to morris dancing.

I have high hopes that Stine will get dressed up and demonstrate this national pastime to us during the Breakfast Martini party at Casa Curlychaos ;)
