..for one week exactly. My son has gone to his cousin’s place for the next 3 days. I was planning on taking him to see Wall-E but looks like it’ll have to be postponed. He’s really excited about staying over, packing his clothes, books etc. I remember I felt exactly the same at his age, spending time with my cousins and trying to stay awake for as long as we could.
While I get how much he cherishes his time there, it does not make me miss him any less.

He was complaining that he was bored. Nothing on TV, the online games were loading too slowly and he didn’t feel like playing his usual imagination games (where he usually role-plays scenes from Star Wars Lego or some game he’s currently into).
Usually, this annoys me in all of two seconds. But last night, I made a real effort and promised him that we’d watch TV together once I was done with work. So as soon as I did, we plopped on the bed and watched the pilot episode of Reaper. I don’t know if it’s healthy to actually let my son watch the Devil in human form who makes wisecracks every three sentences. But I figured, what the hell… :p

Two weeks late but better than never. Ammar’s friends came, they played rugby on the lawn (not exactly rugby but kinda). A few of my close friends made it too. We had catered food, balloons in trees and a Spongebob Squarepants cake. Ammar declared it the best day ever! :)

..my son took part in a field trip organised by our Corp Comm department, as part of our CSR initiative. They went to an ecopark where they learnt about bugs, nature conservation and even planted a tree each. He was so happy when he returned from the trip and everyone commented how he was so enthusiastic and friendly throughout the trip.
In the evening, we went to eat at McD then headed to Shah Alam where I dropped him off at his dad’s. My ex will be on leave for the next two days so he’s taking the chance to spend more time with Ammar.

..was my son’s 9th birthday. I couldn’t take leave on that day but managed to do so on Thursday, the day after.
I ordered 50 cupcakes for his classmates. Went to his school during recess time and distributed the cakes to all his friends. He was so happy and overjoyed and his friends made such a fuss over him. :)
I bought him a Crash and Blast Hot Wheels set. He loved it to bits. Yesterday his dad came to pick him up for the weekend. They played with the set for a while and he looked so happy.
Am planning to have a belated birthday party for him, tentatively on Sunday 16th March. We’re gonna have a few of his friends over, a nice cake, good food and play some games on the lawn. Need to start planning the party pronto! ;)

..and then, me and Ammar had brunch. We shared french toast and Ammar had his usual Yogi ice-cream. Felt good spending time with him and I didn’t worry about work, not even once. :)

..watching videos on YouTube with Ammar. He was humming Elton John’s “Don’t go breaking my heart” which happened to be the soundtrack to Chicken Little. We watched his video performing that song with Kiki Dee. Then we watched the other Chicken Little videos, the Numa Numa Dance and my favourite, the Chicken Little Rap. Such good fun.. :)
