The night before last, I had a phone call from Magic Marga, my tax fairy. She had an opening in her amazingly busy schedule for yesterday, and since, due to my sickness (horrible cold that doesn’t count as “sick” in my boss’s opinion) I took Thu and Fri off, I happened to be free to go and see her on super short notice.
After receiving the obligatory bunch of flowers, she filled in our tax return form (nice sum coming back!) and then we chatted about life ‘n stuff. This was already the fourth time she did the declaration for me, and we always chatted and had a good laugh together. When I told her we’ll be leaving Holland, you could see how her face changed, she was really sad I’ll be going. But we exchanged private e-mail addresses and will hopefully stay in touch.
