I am just so happy I got my level II from FL QA. I got my results this Saturday and emailed the lead interpreter in my county my resume. She replied in less than 30 minutes telling me there are positions open and my level II is the needed credentials for those positions and to go ahead and submit my app. So I have and now we wait… ahh the waiting game :) :) crosses fingers for my dream job

I am facinated by other cultures and languages. I’m going to become an interpreter. I’m not so sure where to start though haha.
I know American Sign Language the best but it’s only my second favorite. I’m really really into Japanese and other Asian Languages. But that’s just the begining. I’ve got a list of languages that I wanna be able to speak before I die.
1. English (done! haha)
2. ASL (i’m not completely fluent but I can manage)
3. Japanese (working on it.)
4. Korean(sounds so incredibly cool)
5. Mandarin(sounds super cute)
6. Dominican Kweyol (I’m half Dominican)
8. French(2nd most popular language in the world)
9. Spanish (most common lang. besides English where I live)
10.German (My other half is made up of German and English)
11. Hindi (I’m in LOVE with Bollywood music:])
12. Japanese Sign Language.(no explanation necessary)

I am terrified out of my mind! I am going back to school and taking ASL 3. I am sooo ready to jump in and begin my life as a sign language interpreter! But I am not as close as I would like to be.
Any one who has completed this goal have any advice?

Ok so I finished my internship whew glad that is done…. I miss the kids already. Its only been like two weeks. But I have my mom helping me update my resume to include my internship and graduation stuff. I am going to try to become a substitute interpreter in the county i am living in for one day a week. I could use the experience for when I finally get a job for real. Trying to keep positive about taking the QA performance assessment. I need to get the money to take it. crossing my fingers

I would just like to state that I am now in my internship for school and it ends in less than 3 weeks…. I am interning at my old high school…. yes its weird. 5 years ago i was a student now I am an intern…. i have had dreams about it creepy. anyways…. so in 3ish weeks I will be graduating with an AS in interpreting :) YAY!!!!! I love working in this field… I really could not have picked a better profession for myself. I love the setting, the people, the language, the culture, everything! I would much rather go to my internship where i do not get paid a dime than go to my other job where i make decent money…. I think thats a good thing :) so in conclusion I LOVE INTERPRETING!!!!!! oh and I am getting much better :) YAY!

i am surprised i havent written an entry about this yet…
okay well like the goal says… i want to “become an interpreter”
Not for spanish, german, english… i want to interpret for the Deaf. I am currently in a Interpreter training program. i am on my way to doing this. its really an honor to be able to know a language and use that knowledge to give people the opportunity to be understood by each other. :) I want to facilitate communication! So thats that.

Okay, this is my dream. I’m in school right now to become one and it gets harder by the second. I am so frustrated. I spend so much time practicing and I feel like I’m not geting better. I take the Florida QA in February. My goal is to pass the QA level 2. We’ll see how it goes. Wish me luck.
