And...DONE!

Apparently I’ve been a nervous wreck for the past week for no good reason. It was a little bit awkward introducing him to everyone at one time (damn me and my habit of always being late to family things where everyone always shows up early), but after that, it was awesome. He charmed my mother, laughed at all my grandfather’s jokes and ate like he hadn’t been fed in months (the ultimate compliment to Southern women). Now I’m actually kind of excited to get home and ask my mom what she thought.

It’s happening Friday. The big family Fourth of July ordeal. I told Christopher that we could do it one day when he wouldn’t be exposed to ALL of my family at one time, but he says he can handle it, so here we go.
HE can handle it. I am a nervous wreck.

Well, well, well…back to this task again, are we? On our first go-around, it was like pulling teeth for me to even mention Christopher to my mom. I’ve done a billion times better on that this time, so now I’m thinking it’s time to take that next adult step – bringing him around the family.
My mom is totally ready. My brothers are ready. Hell, even Christopher is ready. I’m the one standing back saying, “Well, let’s not rush this, OK? We’ve got all the time in the world for that nonsense,” which is a bit rude, isn’t it?
If we’re planning on forever – and we are – I’ve got to get it into my head that forever includes holidays and family meals and you know, my family.
This may not happen soon, but at least I’m getting my nerve up.
