Philip is bringing his 43things up to date.
I accidentally marked this as completed. 43t used to make it easier to add back a completed goal, didn’t they? Now I’m in this limbo where it asks me to tell how I did it and won’t let me add it back to my list. Uggh.
Well, I’m pretty close to this, because I’m finally getting something close to full-time hours to play poker. For a while I was busy with grad school apps but those are done now.

One day.
Really need to find something I’m passionate about.
So far, the only classes I really enjoy are composition classes.

Good to save up a bunch of money though, I guess. How futile in the big picture, though.
I’ve been doing career counseling—through two one-hour phone sessions of six. That seems to be helpful. Now I know I’m INFP (Meyers-Briggs), SAE (Strong), and deeply emotionally unstable (16PF). Tell me something new!

I became a special education paraeducator. Much better than on office job. Yay me! I’ve been so passionate about it I haven’t been on 43things in a long time.

I’ve been a nurse for year and a half and hate it. I’m ready to get out, however, my husband decided to go back to school so I have to keep working for now. I need motivation and inspiration to get through my every day. I just keep reminding myself that I won’t be this forever and that one day I will get to go back to school and do something I am passionate about it. In the mean time, any inspiration or motivating words would be so nice to hear!!!~

I’m putting this goal on hold. I do need to be passionate about my work…and I have work that I’m passionate about, I just don’t get paid for it. :)
I’m chosing, for the moment, to try to develop passion for the growth I’m getting in the job I have.

Does anyone know of a career that combines some or all of these passions?
-Visual Art
-Technology, particularly creating and managing new systems
-The act of organizing things (call me “rainman”)
-Optimizing systems (technical or non-technical)
-Counseling/teaching/mentoring
-Writing
-Hiking, outdoor activity
-Learning, especially to improve existing processes

I saw this goal go by, and realized it’s been something on my mind for some time. I’ve had a very stable and even somewhat interesting job for the last 8 years. Lately it’s become repetative, and just boring. I want to look for a job I will be excited about, but it’s hard to give up the security (and great vacation time).
My hope has been that somehow I could transform this job back into one that I’m passionate about, but I’m losing hope. I need to start thinking and looking.

I need to read the book David Isbell recommended to me “48 Days to the Work You Love” by Dan Miller
