Started Classes! 2 years ago

Wow, since posting this way back an adult education class finally was offered locally! For years all that was ever offered was French, German, Spainish etc…. One day I was reading the flyer for adult ed. and there it was, beginning Irish! Love it!
Slan,
Kevin.

Go me...... 3 years ago

This was completely not worth it, I can hold a decent conversation in irish as I’ve been forced to study it for 13 years now, it being compulsary and all, and I can honestly say that it is a complete waste of time. It really annoys me when I think of all the time that’s been wasted in my life, just from attending irish classes, when I could have been doing something to actually improve my life. I rarely use it in school, and never will from the moment I leave!

Im fluent in Irish 4 years ago

I have been since birth, its my 1st language so Im very very very Irish-y

Why would an latin language speaker to lern irish 4 years ago

Well…when I first heard this language I said: “I must know it. I must speak this language.” At that time I was fixed on greek language, and I am still. But that wont stop me from lerning this language. Have the most beautifull sounds in the world. Sound warm and touching. Like forests and mountain rivers song.

I'm 70% Irish... 4 years ago

...and I’ve always been intrested in my everything to do with my background. I plan on visiting Ireland sometime time in the distant future and I would love to learn the language as well.

Tá gaeilge i measc m’abhair is fearr liom, cé nach labhraíonn mo thuismitheoiri an teanga. Tá suil agam go bhfoghlaimóidh sibh an teanga. Im’thuairim, is teanga álainn é. Go n-éiri an t-adh libh.

well, I’ve kinda done this. i was forced to learn it in school for 15 years and I still wouldn’t be able to hold a conversation with someone from connemara. maybe in the distant future i’ll make an effort to pick it up again and speak it properly (if the language is still around)

Well, at least a little of it 4 years ago

This is one of my more ambitious 43 things. Having Irish roots is the main reason, but Gaelic also seems rather romantic and noble(?) – the language of the faeries (probably all that Tolkien I’ve been reading!)
