KOTTO is excited for the road trip coming up :D
My school and a high school in Japan host a 10-day exchange program; Japanese students come to Canada for ten days in the fall, and Canadian students go to Japan for ten days during spring break.
Next year I’ll be in my final year of high school, while also taking two levels of Japanese. I LOVE Japan and really want to go, but am slightly apprehensive for a few reasons:
1. I’m vegetarian and am very aware of how difficult/impossible this would be in Japan. I’d probably be able to eat meat while I was there, I just don’t know how my body would react after being vegetarian for four years and randomly eating meat for 10 days ;__;
2. I’ve never been out of Canada before (I’m going to the States in April for a band trip though) B-D
3. I don’t know if I can host a Japanese student or not ‘cause my house is tiny (dunno if this is a problem, my school has host families who host a Japanese student every year but don’t go to Japan themselves, I think.)
Other than those three…rather imposing problems, it sounds highly rewarding. I’ll probably kick myself for not going, if I don’t, however, especially ‘cause I want to teach English in Japan at some point.
Wah~

I applied to the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program. I am a semi-finalist. My interview is March 15. I’m extremely nervous.

I participated in a foreign exchange in Cornwall, England for 10 months and it was the best experience I’ve had in my life. I would highly recommend going on one, if you ever have the opportunity. If you are in high school, there are plenty of exchange programs that you can go through, so don’t let age be a factor (I was 16). Cultural Homestay International is a very good company to go through (from America to other countries). It can be a little expensive, but you learn so many things about culture, communication, and even yourself! I just got back about two months ago and I feel so much more confident and worldly than I would have, had I not gone. It is definitely worthwhile and the friends you make can stay with you for life!

I would really love to go away for a year, to spain or france. It’s just it’s quite expensive and my dad really isn’t supportive of the idea, it’s sad. I really want to go.

I was an exhcnage student in Japan for 2 months the summer ater I turned 15. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I really recomment that everyone travel as much as possible. It is more fun, educational, and enlightening than any other thing.
