Heliskiing is off-trail, downhill skiing that is accessed by a helicopter, not a ski lift. Heliskiing is essentially about skiing in a natural - albeit highly selected - environment without the effort or gear compromise required for hiking into these areas as in ski touring or ski mountaineering.

Not just at some lame resort but the real deal in Alaska.

Scary, thrilling, painful as hell….although at times i seriously thought i would die because i was pushed beyond exhaustion, it was like nothing i’ve ever done before and is an experience i wouldn’t trade away for the world.

Once again I have dislocated my shoulder. Had another surgery and this time the doctor put many more restrictions on what I am able to do. I guess I have to give up skiing. I am devastated.

Or cat-skiing… I am an intermediate + skier – moguls, trees, trails, but always skip the bowls… Can’t heli or cat until I get some serious powder skiing under my belt… This year… Bowls here I come!

Neither environmentally friendly, nor good for the wallet, I’ll grant you – but I’d love to, just once…

Canada or Kamchatka? Or somewhere else?
What are the best options? When is the best time? What are the requirements? What are limitations? What’s the price?
