How I did it: I got a job with CMH (Canadian Mountain Holidays) and every year I get to go either Heli-Skiing or Heli-Hiking. The skiing was unbelievable. The Heli-Hiking is even more unbelievable though and I think it's because as a skier you have a vision of what Heli-Skiing is going to be and it was all that and more...but with Heli-Hiking we have no frame of reference. Lessons & tips: If you are keen on Heli-skiing MAKE YOUR OWN REALITY! If you are a good skier then you can heli-ski. Don't be scared - it's totally safe and its truly a 'bucket list' thing. You GOTTA do it!

Heliskiing is off-trail, downhill skiing that is accessed by a helicopter, not a ski lift. Heliskiing is essentially about skiing in a natural - albeit highly selected - environment without the effort or gear compromise required for hiking into these areas as in ski touring or ski mountaineering.

Scary, thrilling, painful as hell….although at times i seriously thought i would die because i was pushed beyond exhaustion, it was like nothing i’ve ever done before and is an experience i wouldn’t trade away for the world.
Once again I have dislocated my shoulder. Had another surgery and this time the doctor put many more restrictions on what I am able to do. I guess I have to give up skiing. I am devastated.
Or cat-skiing… I am an intermediate + skier – moguls, trees, trails, but always skip the bowls… Can’t heli or cat until I get some serious powder skiing under my belt… This year… Bowls here I come!
