Since switching over to children’s vitamins, I haven’t missed a day! The only thing they lack is calcium (they only provide 10% of what I need), so I have needed to remember my dairy.
How to take a multivitamin every day
How I did it: I spent several months trying to get myself to remember my multivitamin. I managed it for a month or so there, but they started to upset my stomach even when I took them with milk, bread, or meals.
I finally remembered someone else's tip about taking child's vitamins, so I tried it out. I just bought a generic version of Flinstone's tablets, which I remembered liking as a child. As it turns out, I still like them as an adult! :D They're cute animal shapes, they're three decent flavors (grape's still the best), and they're chewable.
I do just fine if I take them with a little food. Plus, I like the shapes and colors and tastes, so I always remember to take them! Sometimes I remember more than once a day, and actually get a little disappointed that I can't take another. (That would be too much iron, see.)
Lessons & tips: Get multivitamins that are appealing. Somehow, cute shapes/colors and palatable size/texture makes a world of difference!

I’ve switched to the generic version of Flinstones chewables. They’re much easier to take because – well – they’re chewable! :g: They’re also easier on my stomach: I can’t take them on an empty stomach, but I won’t have trouble if I eat first. (I got an upset stomach from regular multivitamins no matter what I ate or when.)
Still not sure how it compares with the regular multivitamin. I figure it’s better than nothing!
For the past couple months, I’ve been taking medication that gives an acidic stomach, and taking my normal multivitamin has been giving me bad heartburn. :(
I added “eat an extra serving of produce” to another goal, so that’ll add nutrients to my diet for now.
I am thinking about dropping this goal since it could be included in the “remember to take my medicine every day” goal. I am doing really well with this one, anyway. I take a children’s chewable. I hated choking down an adult vitamin, so this works for me.

This goal will be complete when I manage to turn taking a vitamin every day into a regular habit. I figure that means if I can do this for a year I will probably do it for the rest of my life.

Anybody who pays attention knows that just taking vitamins isn’t going to magically make a person healthy… but I do believe that it can be one part of a much larger effort to improve one’s well-being. It’s one small daily step in the right direction; even the simple discipline to remember to take a vitamin every morning can help form a mindset of health every day. I set this as a goal to remind me t do it… because sometimes simple actiosn can have major ramifications.
I’ve remembered on every day but one! Taking the vitamins has helped me drink more milk, too, since I take them with milk to avoid an upset stomach. :)
I want to take a multivitamin every day until the end of this semester. :) I put one multivitamin for every day into a bag. At the end of the semester, I’ll have one vitamin left over for every day that I missed!
Taking the vitamin is surprisingly much more pleasant when it is a fruity children’s chewable. I don’t mind taking it at all. The adult version was so huge it always felt like it was stuck in my throat for hours after I had taken it.
I finally finished a whole bottle of vitamins last week. I don’t know why it’s so hard to take a vitamin. I am taking children’s chewables right now because I had a brand new bottle of them already. I may keep taking the children’s because it’s kind of like a little candy treat.
