12 months. 12 boxes. Hope all of the yummy snacks and games and movies that we sent overseas made a soldier’s day a little nicer. I also hope that my kids’ beanie babies have touched the lives of children in Iraq.

Sent my November box and am glad to be up to date. My goal on this one was to send a box a month for all of 2008. I also wrote that hopefully as I send my last box, Barack Obama will be getting ready to be sworn in as President! Oh yeah! One more box to go.

I didn’t really expect to hear back from any soldiers, but deep down I hoped we’d get some sort of note back from one of the soldiers we sent stuff to. But no. So no real feedback that our stuff was received. But that’s ok. I didn’t do it for thanks.

Just realized that the last package I sent was in June. So, now I’m on a mission to send three to make up for my lull.

Just sent my June package to the same woman soldier we sent our May package to. This time we sent an assortment of cookies! With shipping the package was $30.

....send GWB a message to sign the GI Bill. John McCain bashing it and GWB threatening to veto it is a slap in the face of every serviceman/woman. Its even got Jon Stewart talking about it on the following youtube video.

Rather than wait, I decided to use the link on anysoldier.com to send a pre-packaged box through treatanysoldier.com. We’d already decided to send a package to a woman soldier this time, and she had requested female hygiene stuff. So, I chose the pre-packaged female hygiene box and with a few clicks its on its way, with a note from us included!! With shipping it was over $50.

I’m replacing one of my other goals with this one…the more the merrier, right? I hope you all don’t mind me jumping in!

I also have a goal listed, being part of the groups that greet our Soldiers at DFW airport. It’s a hub for returning and outgoing Soldiers to Iraq. I’ve done it twice and will continue to do it…We are blessed with such fine young men and women!

.....turned into my April box…..we moved in March and I just didn’t manage to get all the items in the box and the box mailed…..but, today I managed to get my act together and shipped off magazines, oreos, beef jerky, gum, jolly ranchers, playing cards and lip balm to a Marine unit based in Iraq.

On the lookout for the next “right sized box” for May.

And tonight at the grocery store I picked up a few snacks to start filling my March box.
