Alice604 push myself too hard again...remember to stop and smell roses
It’s become 1 thing I can’t go without before I go shopping now. There’ll always be more than 1 shopping bag in my bag.
I wish more people would do that. God help us!!!
How I did it: The key is to make it easy for yourself - keep a bag or a few bags in your car for unplanned stops at the grocery
store or whatever. Those little bags that come attached to a tiny pouch
that you can stuff them into are great becuase they fit in a purse and
then you always have a bag with you - no excuse to use a plastic bag!

nevadagirlamber I feel oh so strange
In the legislative session a bill has been brought forward that would charge everyone in Nevada a dime for every plastic bag they take from the grocery bill. They estimate it’ll bring in around 40mil in revenue.
Apparently it doesn’t have much steam and most likely won’t pass this session, but it is something to think about. If I get in the habit now, when this eventually does pass I’ll be ahead of the curve.

Suggestions from other 43ters really helped.. the trick is to buy several and keep them in the car, house, anywhere I might be.

My trick is to return the reusable bags to my trunk as soon as I have unloaded the groceries. I also have a cloth bag that wads up pretty small that I keep in my purse to I use for smaller quanitity purchases. I’ve also been known to just fill up my (sizeable) purse as much as possible to avoid using bags if I’ve forgotten mine.

I finally have enough bags, but now my partner is doing most of the grocery shopping and he doesn’t have any. So the plastic bags are building up again. Ugh! We’ll need to work this out somehow!
Karen Today is a good day.
for the first time since I made this goal, and forgot the bag in my back seat. again. It seems like I am so caught up in what I need to get, and running errand that I never remember! Maybe I’ll put them in the front, so I see them all the time.

What I usually do is put the things in my purse, if I have enough room. But from now on, I’m going to try to bring my bags, because sometimes the items are too big to fit into my purse.
~ John Lee ~ setting my sights lower so I can set them higher
I did this a long time ago and got back into the habit again a few years back.

I started recycling the brown paper bags, but I double bagged them and now they can hold a lot more and they last longer. I also like to bag the groceries myself.
