own 1000 books

I’m on my way, my shelves contain about 300 books as of now. I probably should have smaller goals, like 50 books/year, or even better 5 books/month or so. Still, my main problem is, most really nice books are quite expensive too :P and since I’m at a new school now, I wont be walking by the bookstore everyday as I did before, which means no more impulse purchases :’(

Got another book, the Perdido Street Station. People say it’s quite an interesting read, and since I have weakness for steampunk-ish things, this book might be quite a joy to read.

Filling up the bookshelf with sheer volume is meaningless. I should work at developing a sharp eye for books that I really want in my house, to be within my reach in solid paper form… 1000 books that I’d feel comfortable living with.

Call me shallow, but I would love to fill my place with books. I’d turn it into a magical library with hand-picked books on all topics of the world. Even with the with variety of topic, I would find a way to arrange it so that the arrangements themselves speak something about the nature of the world and relations between fantasies and knowledges. I’ll get a comfy couch, a beautiful lamp, and read until I see the first lights of the dawn, at which I would drink a fresh cup of tea.

I got a bunch more. I would guess 10 since my last entry.

I know for sure I bought myself 5, got one for Christmas, got one just before Christmas…

But 3 of those are CRM reports I’ve written and bound, and one is a PDF from Google Books of a pamphlet written by one of my ancestors… so…. 314?

I remembered a few more! I bought the following books at a used book shop: Bridget Jones’ Diary, 3 Mary Higgins Clark books, a John Grisham book and another, I forget the title. Soooo lets see, 6 more on top of 540 = 546. So I’d say I’m at 546.

I know I’ve bought more since last count, but I can’t remember which ones I’ve counted and which I haven’t!!
I know at least one more, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. So that’s at LEAST 540. But there are others, I’m sure. sigh Remember when i said I had to clean all my bookshelves? Wellll I kinda didn’t get all my books put back yet. It’s been a busy busy summer!!
Anyway, someday I WILL put my books on their proper shelves and then I shall count and update with an amount!
Till then, I’m asking for even more books for Christmas =D

I have definitely more than a 1000 books and I love buying them, browsing them – but a lot of the time I don’t have time to read them. My shelves are full of books I’ve been intending to read. I realised I could still spend time on amazon.com and then I’d look whether I could order the same book from the library. Its fantastic and it saves trees! My next goal is to give away 200 books. (Now, I don’t want to release myself from all of my books!

Got 3 more books for my birthday, but we’ve already packed our books, so I really can’t count them until we move.
