I’m doing this Summer 2011 with my bestfriend. We’ve just decided to go for it and are gonna start planning as soon as hes back from America in January. We’re getting a 1 month Europe pass which is valid in 30 countries. Can’t wait! We’ve already decided we’ll fly to Amsterdam, get a train to Germany, then Denmark, get a ferry to Norway then a train to Sweden and back down to Germany. Obviously this depends on timings and such. But would be nice to have some sort of plan, even if it does go out of the window! Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am not well travelled! x 17 months ago

And a great way to see a lot of countries in a few weeks. It’s a bit like a taster of a lot of countries, and later you might want to come back to a few of them for a longer holiday. I hope to do this in the next few years. 2 years ago

I took the train from Oslo to Stockholm last weekend. It was a night train, so I got a sleeper car. It was hard to sleep, though. The train was pretty bumpy and noisy, and stopped a lot. For some reason the conductor had to blow the horn a lot. It was worth it though…Stockholm is incredible.
I missed my train back because I was waiting at the arrival track for Oslo instead of the departure, haha. That’s a good thing to check beforehand. 3 years ago

I got the Benelux-Germany pass. That was an awesome experience. Er, the trip, not getting the pass, I mean.
Some advice: reserve your seat beforehand! It will save you a lot of hassle on the busy trains. And always be sure to have your pass at the ready, as you will be asked for it every trip.
Next trip, I want to get an Austria-Germany pass. Ja, ich liebe Deutschland. Austria is beautiful too…I’ve been once, but didn’t get to see much. 3 years ago

I’m probably going to Poland next summer, and I’d love to be travel various parts of Europe as well, but not having a job nor being an adult it’d probably be pretty much impossible. Someday, though… 4 years ago

It might happen this summer. I’ll be performing in Edinburgh, Scotland for a month and then will have 10 days off before I have to get back to rehearsing. If M comes out, we’ll have European adventures. 4 years ago

But I’ve done various journeys, from London to Paris and back, and from Bruges to Amsterdam, as well as around north Italy. A full on journey would be a dream, and I’d like to do that one day! But the experience of lengthy train journeys in Europe is always a pleasure, I’ve found—so long as the a/c is working on a hot day, at the least. (And it isn’t always…) 5 years ago

I travelled all over Europe and now that I see what it has to offer, I want to see more of the world. If you want details, check my blog – http://pad.freeflowjunction.org – there’s plenty of stories there… 5 years ago

Highly recommendable. Especially night trains. Beats flying because one has time to actually have the feeling of traveling. 5 years ago

I’ll be flying into Heathrow sometime early this summer with a Railpass in hand. From there, the plan is to make a rough circle around western europe. Haven’t quite planned everything out yet, but it’s definitely on. 6 years ago

i’d like to fly anywhere in europe and get a rail pass. they’re $650 for americans, which is kind of ridiculous.
i could probably offset that by staying in hostels, though.
though it would be fun to meet up with people while i’m there, i want to do this alone. 6 years ago

I have been to London and Chester, England. Florence, Italy (via train from Piza). Paisley, Scotland (via train from London). I love the train. I love relaxing and just watching the scenery. Great stuff. 6 years ago
