I have let all kinds of files pile up on my laptop and now I get a warning all the time that my hard drive is full, then I free up some gigs, some days later the same thing happens again. So now I need to go in-depth, delete stuff I don’t use anymore, organize and then back-up the files I really want on my external hard drive. I should probably clean it up too, but I still have lots of free space on it so it can do it later. Because this takes time! And lots of it. Sometimes I just wish I could delete it all together and start over.

... I need to clean up and organize my hard drive. It’s not so much work, because most of my files are on my external hard drive, and I haven’t saved much on my pc.
But still there’s a little to be done to make my hard drive feel “fresh” again ;) (Maybe this comes along with a defrag, well let’s see)

Almost there
21 months ago
My C: drive is only 25.7GB, and about a week ago I’d reached bursting point, and had less than 1GB of space left.
Today I’ve saved a MASSIVE bunch of video and music files to CD/DVD, and now have 8.28GB of free space on the drive. I’m going to try and get 10GB free, so that’s another 1.72GB to go. Tomorrow I’ll burn a few more things to DVD, and then that should be it :)

Some weeks ago this goal seemed to me almost achieved, but now things are more complicated… my hard drive is at 63% of its capacity, and the aim is to reach the 50% of free space, burning some cds and dvds and deleting useless programs and files. I will keep you informed

My USB controller on my “movies” drive crapped out, so I went and got another one. Anyway, I’ve now got my media split between the 2 drives – all video on one, all music on the other. It’s great. I’ve just got some photos to organise, and my hard drive is officially cleaned up.

So, at the moment all my media is being transferred over to it, then I’m reformatting my 200Gb HD into HSFS, and moving the DVDs that I have back over to it. Then I’ll have a dedicated music server on my NAS, and my movie drive as a portable disk.

...of media files all over my powerbook. I need to sort them all out. I’m going to organise them into the appropriate locations (movies, tv, music, photos etc), and then I think I’m going to cut them to DVD.
