Several of my photos were published in the Fall 2007 (24:1) issue along with my essay “It Ain’t Las Vegas.”
Pretty good year. I had a very good success rate with my photographs… 4 out of 5 publications accepted them.
Feels good to end the year with some credits under my belt. 4 years ago

I’m really proud to have a photograph published in the online journal Raving Dove, which is a peace-oriented publication.
And they actually paid me a small honorarium, so this is my first paid photograph. Dang. And I just started sending out photos in March. I’m astounded and pleased.
(Ruth, this looks like a great venue for you, if you submit to online journals, ever. They actually have Pushcart Prize nominations, so they’re recognized.) 4 years ago

Just ordered the 2006 version used from Amazon for about $5 including postage. I know that the Writers Market has good basic information about submitting, and figure this will too. I’ll probably get the 2008 version when it comes out in late October. 4 years ago

Actually stole the Houston Literary Journal ’s thunder by publishing three of my photos from the day of the brush fire!
This was one of them. Hydra handing out drinks. 4 years ago

The Houston Literary Review, an online publication, accepted some photos.
They’re putting out the new issue very soon, so I’ll post a link when it’s actually published. I’m thinking that some of my earlier stuff is not very high rez, it may need to find a home online.
This credit will help with Project #2. A credit!

Another online publication. I emailed to ask about format preferences and they asked that I send a submission soon, since they’re putting together the next issue next weekend.
What more invitation does a person need? I just sent them six related images.
It’s interesting to look through the huge number of pictures I’ve taken in the past year and a half. I see two or three themes arising, and now that I’ve recognized them, I want to create collections for myself…from which I’ll be able to create packages (for lack of a better word) of related images.
Themes I noticed today: abandoned things, domestic beauty, stark buildings 4 years ago

I just sent 7 thumbnail photos into an online magazine that looks very promising. They say they are actively looking for submissions and it’s a beautiful site.
My first submission. I’ve submitted a lot of writing, but this is my first photo submission. 4 years ago

This happened kind of accidentally. A photograph I entered in my college’soff-campus studies photo contest was then entered by them in a national magazine’s photo contest, and it won. So it is being (or has been already, probably) published in their September issue. I am supposed to be getting copies so I can see it for myself, but as I am in Bangladesh, I won’t get to see them for a while. They’re being mailed to my parents. So I can’t say for certain that this is worth doing, but I imagine it will be.
But. I’d still like to publish a photograph purposefully, and not by accident. 6 years ago
