relish every second of my twenties

...I want to live my present!!

Today I am twenty-two!! I am feeling old, although I’m sure everyone older than 22 probably rolls their eyes at sentiments like that (just as I roll my eyes at the freshmen who “are so old” when they turn 19…it goes SO FAST).

But I am determined to keep the twenties happy! Which they are. Today I woke up really early after going to bed sick last night, but I am well today! It is freezing, after being 80* outside yesterday, but that’s cool too! Because it’s my birthday! I got to eat leftover, cold pizza for breakfast by myself in my kitchen dancing to no music at 7:30 in the morning. Then I got to crawl back into bed and do absolutely nothing for an hour or two, watch morning television, listen to music and dance around happily, etc.

I got dressed, worked on my thesis (15,010 words!), went to volunteer at the elementary school where I help teach reading, my little girl remembered it was my birthday and I was so flattered, she had made me a little card and got me candy (I opened it and shared it with her like a good birthday girl). And then I decided to treat myself to a lunch out (which I never do because I have no money) in celebration of my birthday AND the fact that my dad paid off the rest of my student loans last night as a present.

And even though the guys at Jimmy Johns weren’t as nice as usual, and even though the flowers someone tried to send me (Thanks again, Dad, haha) didn’t get here because no one was home and I couldn’t understand the lady on the phone and they won’t be back again until three and then I unwrapped my sandwich and it fell RIGHT ONTO THE FLOOR

I am still having a fantastic birthday because there is no better decision I could make than to decide to just be HAPPY!!!!!

Something about rainy days makes me feel refreshed. Probably because we never get them. It is good. It makes me feel bad for places where it rains a lot (although their farmers are probably way happier and they don’t have restrictions on when they can water their lawns, maybe they don’t even have to water their lawns!) because you definitely take it for granted, weather becomes this obstacle to what you want to do with your life when really it should be your life, you should be working around it and incorporating it into everything because it is wonderful and makes everything grow and and and and

I am so very happy.

that we were in college and on New Year’s we danced around my apartment, and then Leela convinced me and M. and a neighbor Andy who I had never met to strip down into our skivvies and go swimming in the pool with her?

In the very very very cold water? And Diana giving everyone towels and taking buttery nipple shots and enough champagne for everyone to have a bottle to themselves, and playing video games and staying over until 4:30 in the morning? Then waking up to someone sawing in my apartment complex because the world sometimes is cruel and evil, and making scrambled eggs and pancakes?

Cause I do, and it was awesome.

We were just playing games and laughing (and I wasn’t the klutzy one knocking drinks over!) and after some guy spilled a beer on me, the guy who was my partner in the game we were playing cleaned up the carpet with 409 and then used it on my pants and leg, and I just don’t know that I have laughed that sincerely all week. It felt good. And I didn’t get home until 4:30 in the morning, Whataburger in hand (god, delicious) and everything is wonderful (even though I might have screwed something good up, but, that’s nothing new, really)

And everything is going to work out as it should.

<3 I feel good. Yay youth. Going to a bridal extravaganza with Jennifer and a few of the other bridesmaids this afternoon, better get pretty!

I think it’s funny, because I apparently had a hard time learning to jump when I was little, and apparently still do. There was one shot we took in which I am just standing up really tall. But. I love. These girls.

a fair amount of death and sadness in my life lately.

But I am choosing to let this remind me that my life is precious. I won’t be around forever; I want to take advantage of every single opportunity life gives me.
