    Last week 9 months ago

has been hectic and for some reason it’s been an emotional roller coaster. Moving out from our last place was a big thing, I expected it to change and fix many things so I guess I was nervous and felt the pressure. I really wasn’t happy there. There was something about the place that just wasn’t right. I think it’s because before the new apartment building was built a few years ago, there used to be a sausage factory for years and years. All those dead things, no wonder the energy was bad… Husband laughs at my theory, but I swear something wasn’t right there.
Moving was a good thing in so many ways. We have a nicer place in a much nicer area for significantly less money (thanks to the recession).
Above all, it’s given us an opportunity to start again and so far things have been fantastic. Husband gave up smoking and seems to be doing well, I try my best to be supportive. Fingers crossed he’ll succeed so that I won’t have to kill him ;). I think he’ll be able to do it. We’re both much happier and more relaxed and excited about the place so things are good and we’re now starting to plan for other things (like had the baby discussion this morning – he’s told me to make a baby budget…).
Best of all, it’s been really sunny and warm (not WARM warm, but warm for March in Ireland) for the last four or five days and it’s meant to last all week. Makes such a difference! Love it.
I am looking forward to things now. Organising the new home, trying to find a job or p/t volunteer work (I’ve seen several charities have head offices near us, so was going to contact them all to see if there’s any work), starting my course, losing weight, getting better and being able to run again… lots of things. I just need to work on staying focused.

    Valentine's weekend 10 months ago
    • Went to see Slumdog Millionaire with husband. We decided to walk there and back to get some exercise, but then we went for a coffee before the movie and bought popcorn and pick n mix…
    • Found some great apartments to view. I can’t wait to see them!
    • Some fantastic news… well, potentially fantastic, just have to keep fingers crossed
    • It was sunny and quite mild this weekend. Today was particularly nice, around 8 to 10 degrees and sunny. It made me so happy! I love it. Great running weather after the ‘big freeze’
    • Husband bought me a new top as a valentine’s present
    • Fresh air!
    • Scambled eggs… mmmm…..

    Wednesday 10 months ago
    • I’ve enjoyed being active and getting lots of exercise and fresh air recently. It really makes a huge difference.
    • Today I had a quiet day at home, but it’s day 2 of my detox, so my body’s working hard anyway and it’s not a good idea to push it to its limits today, I think. I hope my energy returns by tomorrow.
    • I feel my detox is working and I find it easy to stick to it
    • Lots of good shopping at the weekend and it was guilt-free because I actually really needed everything I bought.
    • Lots of good reading at the moment
    • We’ve had some good luck financially lately, which is always nice, esp after some bad luck last year.
    • Things are going well with husband and our relationship has improved a lot.
    • Eventhough I’ve been feeling a little depressed recently, I’m enjoying life much more than I have in a long time.
    Things I look forward to:
    • Going to Rome in March
    • Joining a new mysore group later this week, getting back to my regular practice, getting into the yoga circles again and making new friends.
    • Moving!! No date set yet(silly landlord is avoiding the subject, he really is something else…).
    • Looking for a new place. I know exactly what I want and trust it’s easy to find.
    • Starting my running club! A bit scary, but good, too.
    • Finding a job. I can’t wait to find out what kind of job I’ll find! It’ll be a nice job, that’s for sure, because I’ll only accept a nice job.
    • Selling our flat in London. Should happen soon.
    • Moving somewhere different, warm and nice. Won’t happen for few years, but most likely will happen eventually and just knowing that is enough for now.
    • Nice dinner – we still haven’t used our posh dinner voucher, so that’s something nice to do next month.

    Wednesday 11 months ago
    • I got a letter from the inland revenue saying I’m due a big tax refund from last year! Woohooo! It’s so nice to get something back from the state for once, esp since somehow they managed to work it so that I get no dole (because I was travelling, so have not paid enough tax in the last 2 years – the x number of years prior to that do not count, huh?). Now I have to decide what to spend it on!
    • Booked flights to Rome, finally! Can’t wait!!!
    • I feel very positive about things.

    Saturday 11 months ago
    • Ahhh, I had such a nice lazy day! I stayed in my pyjamas all day, first with my laptop in bed, with a cup of coffee, sorting out my goals, then just doing a few little things around the house.
    • I’ve enjoyed Bikram classes this week and really pushing my body to its limits. I’ve also enjoyed getting my bike out and cycling there, eventhough it’s been freezing cold.
    • It’s so nice to feel that you’ve deserved a rest day! I’ve worked so hard this week (physically) that my legs are still a little achy and I feel positively tired. I love that feeling.
    • It has been nice to get back to my normal eating routine and just focus on my health this week.
    • Had a good laugh watching an episode of Only fools and horses with husband. I hardly ever watch it, but he loves it and it is a funny show.
    • We also watched Around the World in 80 Faiths which was just fascinating! Just my kind of show and anyone who has an interest in different cultures and traditions should watch it (I think you might be able to watch it online, even). Loved it and look forward to watching more. I have another episode recorded so might watch it tomorrow. I really want to go somewhere faraway and exotic soon!
    • I also added some of my photos to the ‘around the world in 80 faiths’ Flickr group and they came up on the BBC website! Coooool! (only cos I was the latest person to add pictures to the group, but still…) EDIT: Just checked – my pictures are still there, hehee :)
    • We had brunch for dinner – scrambled eggs with garlic, mushrooms and herbs; veggie sausages and soda bread. Yummy! We have this most Saturday mornings, but today we had it for dinner and it was lovely.

    Monday 11 months ago
    • After all the festivities it was so nice to go back to normal routine. My depression was instantly cured – I just love routine , spending time alone and doing normal things.
    • Husband had the afternoon off, which was perfect, because it meant that I was really busy in the morning trying to get everything done and then had a fun afternoon shopping with him. Best of both worlds.
    • Lovely thai meal for dinner
    • It was nice to be in town after dark and see the xmas light properly
    • I finally found some cropped leggins for bikram and they were only 5 euro so I could get 2 pairs. They’re just perfect. The only other pair I’ve seen so far was 50 euro – so I feel like I’ve just saved 90 euro :)
    • I saw my running shoes in 2 shops yesterday – in one shop they were 90 euro and in another shop they were 120 euro (discounted from 140-150 euro), which means I got a brilliant deal because I only paid 70 euro for them. Woohooo!
    • I downloaded loads of new music
    • Nice evening at home. I felt relaxed and happy. It’s so nice to feel better again.

Boxing day - 28th December 11 months ago
    • here’s a picture of my new pyjama pants. I LOVE them! I never want to take them off. And they were 50% off, so only 7 euro!
    • I love my new runners. I got the Asics Gel Kayano 14s, which were also 50% off so only 70 euro! Woohoooo!
    • I got some lovely tall glasses. Guess what? they were 50% off too! The sales are fantastic this year!
    • I spent Friday lounging around and watching movies
    • Landlord finally came over to change the lightbulbs
    • I survived a panto! my ears are still ringing…
    • I got rickrolled! I didn’t even know what it was until I mentioned it to husband. Funny! And here’s Rick love it!

    Christmas Eve 11 months ago
Today was a very enjoyable day.
    • Had a lovely lunch at a japanese restaurant with husband, just the two of us. I’m not awfully familiar with Japanese food, but I think I’ve found a new favourite side dish: Pumpkin Korokke, which was pumpkin croquettes coated in honey breadcrumbs and served with mustard and sweet japanese sauce. To die for!
    • Too much chocolate!
    • Received a very generous gift from someone who doesn’t normally give buy us gifts because we hardly know the people!! I think they know we’ve had a tough year and gave us a little treat :). This was actually the second unexpected, very generous gift we received this xmas season!
    • Had a good giggle with husband at his parents’ house. He was very good to me today and I actually enjoyed myself and totally forgot to stress about things :)
    • Nice quiet morning alone
    • Nice evening walk
    • Planning our trip to Rome. I think I found a hotel. Can’t wait to book it!

    Thursday 12 months ago
    • Husband has promised to have a quiet word with a family member to ask him to stop making sarcastic jokes, no matter how well intentioned, about me because I’m feeling too fragile to handle it at the moment and am going to burst in tears. I feel so much better for having been able to tell my husband how I feel and I’m so grateful that he immediately offered to speak to the person. phew. I think I might even enjoy xmas now.
    • Quiet day at home, thought I still got lots of little things done
    • It was very mild today, around 9C, so when I went running, wrapped up in my winter clothes and fleece hat, I sweated buckets, which I love (as gross as it sounds). It’s been reasonably mild all week, which has made running much easier.
    • Finally managed to sort through my t-shirt box and another box of clothes as well as my handbags – LOADS of stuff to take to Oxfam. Looking at all my cool t-shirts brought back lots of nice memories of different places.
    • I found an old red adidas jacket, which I’d forgotten about, so now I have a new jacket for running and it even looks sporty. yay!
    • Clean home again – very enjoyable!
    • Quiet evening alone
    • Dates! I bought a huge bag of dates yesterday and I’m completely addicted to them. I think I ate way too many of them today, but it’s better than chocolate that’s for sure.
    • Which reminds me, so far I’ve had 15 (processed) sugar-free days in December and it’s been quite easy! I love it!

    Weekend 12 months ago
    • I did really well with my routine and managed to fit in a run on Saturday, as well as stick to my eating schedule
    • Saw a great photo exhibition
    • On our way back from the exhibition, realised that the fabulously crazy toejam carboot sale was on again at a fabulously bohemian pub, so we popped in. And it was great, very christmassy and very busy. A bit alarmingly though, we noticed that some people were now selling new thing(!!) and more people were selling things that people would actually buy! (the first time we went there, people were selling things like thyme in a nike, a fax machine and a swedish boy and other crazy things) At the same time though, there were more stalls, a proper DJ and still lots of mad stuff and interesting people. The picture above is from last summer – I wish I had my camera on Saturday!
    • Lovely dinner on Saturday – I made sweet potato chips which were very deliciously crunchy
    • On Sunday I had a lazy day stuck indoors most day, which was very enjoyable
    • I watched a few episodes of Fraser – which always cheers me up – which doing a few little things around the house
    • I’ve given up on being energy efficient and environmentally friendly and just turn the heat on and up whenever I want to. I love it and I feel physically much better. We’ll see how I feel when the gas bill arrives… gulp!
