Life is very full... 3 years ago

and I don’t have time for knitting right now. I’ll revive this one when I have more sitting-and-waiting time in my life.

I’ve donated several things, so I am going to count it as “done for now.”

For Warm up America 3 years ago

When my PopPop died last September, I was devastated. I flew to Florida to be with my family and for the funeral, and was going to be there for nearly a week. I knew that I would need to knit, but I was in no shape to follow a pattern. I took some plastic needles (for the plane), a big ball of yarn, and spent the time knitting 7×9 squares.
At first, I thought it would be hard to give them up, there were tears mixed in-knitted in-to the very fabric. Each one was a few hours or a day that I could remember when I held it. In early October I went to the NYC Knit Out! and dropped all of them on the Warm Up America table. I stood back a moment to say goodbye, and watched as they mixed in to the hundreds already there. People came and went, mixing and matching colors and patterns for whatever blanket they envisioned making that day. I know my work helped me, but to know that somewhere there is someone so much worse off than me who is warm…who is feeling loved for having a handknit blanket…that makes this goal so so so worth doing.

I am putting this marked as done 3 years ago

However any chance I get I will donate blankets, and baby items to Project Linus and local hospitals.

Bev's Country Cottage Rocks! 3 years ago

She has beautiful patterns for baby clothes, afghans and blankets with instructions. She is just asking for donations!

She also has a list of hospitals that need baby items.

To top it off she has free online lessons on how to knit and crochet with pictures!

Good grief Charlie Brown! 3 years ago

My youngest son, who is now a grown man, had a blanket that a friend made for him when he was born. He carried it everywhere. When he went to kindergarden we had to put it up in a closet so he would leave it at home.

He wasn’t insecure – he just loved that blanket. He still has it to this day!

When I saw this goal I knew in my heart it was a project that would mean something to me and the children who receive them. Thanks Happy Adar!

Lately... 3 years ago

my knitting just rides around in the back of my car, in its little baggie. Still nice to know it’s there.

Such a comfort! 4 years ago

The current little blanket was a big comfort to me during a recent spell of misery with my left eye. I’d managed to get a blister on the cornea (every bit as yucky as it sounds) and spent a couple of days unable to read or look at a screen, and in a fair bit of pain. I knitted like crazy, thinking that this blanket is twice-blessed: it has soothed me, and now it is going to soothe someone else.

Whole lotta knittin’ going on at Chez Adar these days…

I moved into the new place, but there’s no Net access, and no TV, so I’ve rediscovered listening to the radio and knitting—very relaxing way to spend the 30 minutes before bed.

It was a great plan... 4 years ago

I knitted nearly a whole blanket on this trip, and I think if I use a simpler pattern, I can do a blanket per trip.

I sat and knitted and listed to various collected podcasts on my iPod and was a very happy girl.

Ooooh! Two "things" with one fun activity! 4 years ago

I will KNIT on the TRAIN this week, on my way up North! Then I will KNIT on my way back home!

And come to think of it, all those hours ought to be good for a blankie for someone.
