I had this idea for years, having no oven made me push it off. Now that I have access to one, I should start to learn how to bake a cake.
cincibohemian94 Typing this one a big crazy computer in TimeWarner store! I am cool :)
How I did it: Pretty simple really. It was 11 o'clock at night. Heat oven, make batter, heat batter, piece of cake really (No pun intended. Sorry that was really bad X) ) Actually, this is the step by step directions I used from cooks.com BASIC QUICK AND EASY YELLOW CAKE <!----><!--BASIC QUICK AND EASY YELLOW CAKE--> 2/3 c. shortening1 1/4 c. sugar2 1/4 c. flour (self rising)1 c. milk2 eggs1 tsp. vanilla Preheat oven to 35… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I got the recipe from a veg*n website over 12 months ago, but today i was bored and a little depressed and so it was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Luckily we had all the ingrediants ( just enough cocoa!) , except we had to go and get stuff for the icing once the cake had cooled. This cake took only about 10 mins to whip up, i didnt even have to use a mixer, just a wooden spoon. I left it in the oven for about 25 mins, not quite long… Read how I did it…

How I did it: With "this recipe":http://www.all-creatures.org/mhvs/recipes-appsaucecake.html. (This is the most I can reasonably say about how I did it... and yet the error message still comes up!) Read how I did it…
poemma14 is freezing in my house.
How I did it: I found a recipe in Lost American Recipes or something like that, and found Cold Oven Pound Cake and Red Velvet Cake. Cold Oven Pound Cake won in the end, where you put the cake in a cold oven and then put it to preheat (which is good if you always set the oven to preheat but then when you're making the batter you run out of time). It apparently helps the crust taste better. Read how I did it…
How I did it: If you want to do this badly enough, just run to the grocery store some cozy Saturday morning and DO IT! Don't buy the cake mix and supplies then just put it in the back of the cabinet. Buy it, make it, done. =) The directions are usually fairly simple, too. Read how I did it…

regardless of not having a sieve. && the mother forgot to buy my chocolate so it’s just gonna be a normal sponge. It’s probs going to be rubbish but oh well, it’s only my first attempt.
Picture shall be up when it’s done.

So, we have all the ingredients…but the mother has lost the sieve. I was all up for doing it today, now I have to wait even longer.

For something so simple it’s awfully complicated.
But, just need to get some sugar then it is cake time. :D

Oh wait… I DID bake a cake!
Done! A birthday afternoon project for my brother, my son, and I. We made it (with 3 layers of cakey goodness, a shot of frangelico and shakes of sugar-beadlings lovingly raining down upon chocolaty icing), and then we took the sucker down. It went down in flames (tiny ones, on the ends of little coloured candles). And it was delicious.

I told my mum I wanted to bake a cake last christmas, she comes home one day saying you get to cook today….she told the grandad to buy the ingredients they got me the ingredients to make mince pies. I specifically told her, and my grandad I want to make a normal, chocolate cake…I got really upset over it as well because I’d been asking her for ages to get me the ingredients for it and how much I wanted to do it and she though a mince pie would be the same…eugh, parents. >.>
I’ll have another bash at it now it’s half term, let’s hope they get it right this time.
..just baked another cake…looks like I’m getting better at this.
A few weeks ago I realized this would be a great way to use left-over eggs. So, baking a cake may take place more frequently for me in the future.
