Today at work I was taking the deposit down to the bank and I managed to do this the entire way! My eyes weren’t threatening to look down at the ground as much as they had originally.

I read the following quote on 43things:
“Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step. Only he who keeps his eyes fixed on the far horizon will find the right road.”
- Dag Hammarskjold, the 2nd UN Secretary-General
really bad habit of keeping my head down when I walk. It’s not for lack of confidence. I really don’t know why I do it, probably so I can see what’s in front of me so I don’t trip over anything. But that’s what peripheral vision is for. I tried this yesterday while walking outside on campus for a long stretch and I did pretty good, but my eyes kept wanting to look at the ground and my head kept wanting to follow them. This has been a habit for so long, it’s going to be hard to break.
