I just got my results, and it feels great to be satisfied!

All it took was a little discipline and prioritization. I’m so glad I got rid of the sheets and slides and invested in good textbooks; besides getting better grades, I felt I was finally beginning to put the pieces together, see the bigger picture of what my major is about instead of treating each subject individually, and actually enjoy it all. And I can still do better. I’ll make sure to remember my mistakes and not repeat them next semester.

Leaving facebook helped! There was no longer the distraction of checking it every couple of hours or staring at the status bar for half an hour, trying to be creative about what status I’m in!

I need to stop depending on coffee to stay awake. It really messed up my sleeping schedule, and I found myself napping too frequently.

    Finals in a few days.
Today, I’m gonna study for at least six hours, productively.
I need to minimize distractions, put my mobile phone where I can’t reach it (it’s always during finals when I’m lonely and want to text everyone I haven’t seen in a while!), brush my teeth so I stop eating, and focus.

-Not buying student sheets. Last semester I got them and didn’t use them. The next step is giving them up for good!
-FOCUSING in class. Sitting up straight, listening actively, and taking notes (not copying the whole thing like a machine).
-Studying a little EVERY DAY. It saves a lot of time if I study while the lecture is still fresh in my head.
-Studying in the library every Thursday after my lab. I have three hours that I would otherwise waste sleeping at home.
-Being consistent, having a schedule and sticking to it. Leaving it up to my mood has proved ineffective. This is my 8th semester… it’s time I stopped making the same mistakes. If I’m not going to work with my degree, I should at least come out with excellent time-management skills!

    Self-Determination 17 months ago

I need to control what I do and have more self-discipline and self-determination. I tend to fall into things that are immediately gratifying (such as web posting) instead of focusing on my homework and gain the longer-run gratification of doing well in school and having a decent life!
