That would be 365 miles a year! I can walk farther if I choose. And I’ll keep track of all the places I could have walked to.
still haven’t made the one mile mark, but am walking everyday – 3/4 mile or so. I fell yesterday morning and tweaked my knee and foot; walking too fast, dark at 5:45 in the am and tree-root-twisted pavement. I’ll start it up again tomorrow
I am going to start small so I can complete a goal. Once I have walked a mile every day for awhile, I can up it to a weekly goal. I did this a few years ago and I really felt great. I would like to pick it up again. I had 2 back surgeries and never got back in shape. It has been too long now to pin it on that anymore.
i walk when i can but can’t be held to a steadfast goal like this one…
In Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, it is said that one is absolved of prior sins by walking them off. Bob Dylan said “I don’t need no sports car. I can walk around the block whenever I want” (or something to that effect). I meditate and exercise when I walk. I want to do it every day.
I finally joined L.A. Fitness and have been doing a variety of other things. Today I did 60 minutes on a stationary bike and the readout said it was the equivalent of 17 miles…not too shabby!
I completely fell off the wagon with this after doing okay for a time because it’s gotten to the stinkin’ hot portion of the summer and I hate to go outside, even in the early morning.
Well, I’ve seen the “Walk away the pounds” videos recommended in various places but I’m about the most uncoordinated person around and always feel like a dork trying to do even really basic aerobics stuff. I decided to give Leslie Sansone a try though, and what do you know, it’s a workout even I can do. I’m very psyched. I’ve kept up some with crunches and push ups but know I’ve needed to do more and this seems like something I could do 4-5 days a week pretty easily. If it gets results I’ll be a happy (and smaller) camper.
I’m soooo bad at this. I just am the worst for procrastinating any form of exercise. It’s gorgeous and cool this morning though, I’m gonna do it today! The trick will be to do it again tomorrow, and again the day after and again the day after that…
I’m going to try to do this every day in May. I walked about a mile and a half this morning, so that’s a good start. I hate exercise so I have to start somewhere, and while I’m doing this I can catch up on podcasts.
I really want to join a gym, as the good walking weather in Atlanta is a very narrow window between winter, pollen season and heavy heat & smog season. There’s an LA Fitness opening near us soon…anyone have any recommendations on them, good or bad?
