How I did it: I went with a group from school to the inauguration...me and two million people, i couldn't even see the Capitol but the crowd was so energetic and friendly and excited. Such a fantastic experience. Read how I did it…

ales_volat_propriis has the audacity to hope.
I spent the morning watching the inauguration ceremonies live, glued to the tv and moved to tears over and over (Aretha singing America the Beautiful – omg, how powerful. And I personally loved the hat). I completely skipped my morning drawing group and took my toddler to daycare late just to see every minute, though I had to settle for listening to President Obama’s speech on NPR in the car. Rev Lowery’s closing prayer was truly, to me, a moment in the history of oratorical prose. What an amazing man and a beautiful ending to the ceremony.
Later in the evening, my husband came home, and we watched it all again (and I cried just as much the second time). A year ago, I had doubts that our country could be open-minded or forward-thinking enough to see and trust the vision of Barack Obama. Now, I am proud and hopeful to be a part of this new day.
And so it’s time we all get to work…

Charmaine and I had a party today.

Ru ~ dig deeper glitter in her wake...
This day couldn’t come soon enough. I got up early to watch all the celebrations, from the pre-inauguration prep to the parade. Such wonderful words, music, poetry. There is a different energy and excitement afoot, a connectedness on new roads, even if they’re long, difficult ones. The king is dead – long live the king!
(I wonder if I’m the only one who got excited and took photos of the television?)
Ash~ exhaling happiness walking on leaf carpets once more ...

Bye Georgie. It was(‘nt) nice knowing you. Thanks for leaving all of your pieces for our new President to pick up. Don’t worry. I’m sure he’ll be able to handle your dirty mess. It’s all about the change. And he’ll be ready to take everything you screwed up.
Enjoy your cows in Texas, assface.
On television… the inauguration, the luncheon, the parade. I haven’t felt this good about an American president since John Kennedy was sworn in. There is hope. There will be change. I am very, very excited about the future of our country once again.
Leptis Magna "I'm on the karma payment plan."
I took an Obamabreak at lunch to watch the swearing-in on tv. I won’t forget seeing the thousands of people with joy on their faces. It sounds hokey, but damned if I didn’t want to jump right in there and wave a flag or something, be a part of it, do a little dance.
Adar is back.
I am so very happy, sitting here with friends, watching TV and celebrating.
Count this as DONE!
Mike is enjoying the fall.
Barack Obama is now the President of the United States! Let the celebration begin. Goodbye George W Bush. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out of DC.
