My wife is a native Spanish speaker, though she speaks perfect English. I’d like to be able to speak to her in her native language and be able to converse with her friends and family without any problem. I really think a year from now, with work on the Rosetta Stone and speaking to her in Spanish, I can be pretty solid in Spanish.

Kinda ashamed that I can’t speak another language (I’m english – so go figure :)). I’m looking into going to south america to learn the lingo.
I hear it’s best to do 1 on 1, otherwise you can’t really learn as easily.
This comes after I spent 2 years living in Germany and not getting so far. Still I’m kinda determined (or bloody minded) enough to give it another go.
Any tips or intensive training schools in the uk / south america would be very helpful :)

I work in a hospital where it’s important to communicate to your patient, so I am learning the basics of a few languages Punjabi, Cantonese and Mandarin. But I want to be fluent in Spanish. I went up to Spanish 4 in college but that’s been a while. Me falta practica!

I got Rosetta Stone to help me learn Spanish and it seems to be really helping so far. I just need to learn to be more consistent with practicing it. At least 3 times a week…
I’ve started saying little phrases like “Como estas?” and “Donde Estas -insert lost object”. A few people have been like “Whoa that’s really weird…” but a lot of my friends have started answering back in spanish so that’s cool…. I have a terrible accent though….
