Well, I’m underway. I took the first of four Tuesday night classes at Fremont Drum School this evening. Alternated between feeling like I was a natural and being painfully aware I didn’t have a clue. Lots of opportunity to smile at imperfection. All in all it was fun, and made me want to come back for more.

I took the entry level class last summer and meant to take it and the intermediate class this summer but am not sure I’m going to get around to it. They’re a great group, though – Stan Shikuma, the group and class leader, is fantastic.
I took a three-evening class from Simone LaDrumma a few weeks ago, quickly developed an addiction and bought a drum at The World Rhythm Festival.
I’ve been going to the Friday night drum jam at the University Heights Community Center, but I really need to take another class. Probably with Bill Matthews at Fremont Drum, since it’s only a mile from home.
[Update 6-24-05] I’m starting the Beginning 2 class with Bill on Tuesday July 5th. Whee-ha!
