The renaissance vision has been clouded by my 5:30am – 5pm Uni days…
Just for fun I decided the other day to walk through my house, out the back and then just around the property and make a consious effort to think about anything and everything around me (or put simply, pretend I was as interested in everything just like an average pot smoker when high). I must say I was rather overwhelmed by that exercise! My problem has been that I am interested in damn well everything and cannot chose a life path or career. That little exercise I mentioned above I identified countless things – from the soil engineering of the carpark hill cuts to the photosynthesis of the grass under me to the qualities of the artists whose paintings hang off our walls – which I would be happy learning about, enjoy doing for a living and want to contribute to (original ideas).
Try it sometime… it is an interesting experience if you are as crazy and weird as I =D.

I found an excellent book that has explained a few things to me. Called “The Renaissance Soul – Life Design for People with Too Many Passions to Pick Just One” by Margaret Lobenstine.
While I am only just becoming an adult, the book is very enlightening and certainly offers some guidance, especially on how to manage changing careers and life interests, etc. which is quite frequent for me.

To be a Renaissance Man involves a path…of following various arts(music, math, literature, visual and performing arts, and the sciences )to create a person capable of re-inventing how one thinks and acts..

Renaissance man
n.
A man who has broad intellectual interests and is accomplished in areas of both the arts and the sciences.
Or as Leon Battista Alberti once said
"that “a man can do all things if he will"

Not if you really think about it. What is a renaissance man? Someone who is versatile and has many talents. I want to be skilled. I want to be interesting. I want to be the master of my domain.
This isn’t as odd a group as it may seem. Then again, it’s odd if you think about the fact that I’m the only one in the group, and yet this is written as if there were many of us.
Oh well, good luck to everyone.
