School trapped me 23 months ago

At my high school it became obvious by the last year that teachers and opportunities shine more favourably on students who were planning to enter law or medicine or administration.

I’ve always wanted to be start a Specialty business and enter the beauty and fashion industry in Japan and i’ve had no opportunity to find out exactly what that industry involves. We have no classes or electives that touch on what i want to pursue in the future and it makes me feel like my entire schooling has been wasted.

They harp on about the OP (overall position: a test that calculates your position against the rest of Australia from 1 (the best) to 25 (the lowest) your number is chosen by taking into account your grades for all your subjects)
and traineeships, but ive found it impossible to to find a traineeship that would help me achieve this goal.

my parents say that it is the last year of school, and that i should try for the OP as it would help me get into a good university in the future (in case i change my mind).
i understand what they are saying from their pov, but i dont think they understand that i will never want to be a solicitor or a teacher or a doctor.

does anyone know whether i should leave school now and go straight to japan, stay and practice courses (what types, does anyone know any) outside school or put off my plan for this year and try to get a good OP?

any other suggestions are fine too!
