How to take a surf lesson by LoveTheRain

"Fun in the sun and the waves."

How I did it: Before going on our vacation to Hawaii I consulted my guidebook for the best surf schools and picked one. I called and booked in advance so that it meant that the lesson would happen. The day of the lesson I got up and had a good breakfast (eggs, fruit, toast) so I would have plenty of energy. The lesson itself was just over two hours of fun in the sun and the waves. I laughed at myself a lot and managed to stand up and ride a wave a few times which was such a thrill. I loved it and am so glad I did this.

Lessons & tips: Tips to others: find a good school, splurge for the private or semi-private less to get more 1-1 time, WEAR SUNSCREEN (yes, I got a little burned), and work your arms and shoulders in advance (turns out surfing was more padding and arm work than leg work.)

    Soooo last winter I took aabout 6 surf lessons! AMAZING and so difficult - you have to be in killer shape surfing is no joke!!!

    This is another major goal to get back in to surfing after I have the baby!!! More lessons i guess—and I hope to get my own board by summer!

    So I have completed three surf lesson!! I am on my way and boy does it take hard work and dedication !! I guess if it was easy everyone would do it!

    Rhode Island surfing = a good wet suit and some Gutts!

    I emailed Peter Pan the surf legend / god and he said I am the perfect candidate for surfing and that I will adore it! can’t even wait! so I just need to schedule my first lesson. .

    I have a tropical trip planned and I’ve looked up a few surf lesson companies online. It won’t be until the latter half of the year… but it will happen. :)
