It’ll be a while before I can do this.
My dad brought my bike home a couple days ago.
It would be too cold & icy to ride because it’s winter is coming!
I’ll have to wait until the summer.
Even then, I won’t be able to ride that much.
I am going on a month long trip to Australia.
Eventually, I’ll do this!!

How I did it: Easy. I just went. After I came home from Steubenville, I decided to go to church everyday. Instead of bothering my family, I decided to just ride my bike everyday. It saves gas, it's much easier than having a cranky family, and it's good for me. What better way to do it? Read how I did it…
How I did it: I injured my back a bunch of years back - lost a battle with a boulder when I was mountain biking, and crashed into a tree with my trunk. This caused a cascade of adaptation, shortening of structures, weakness, tenderness, etc, and an associated reduction in activity levels.I learned about what was keeping my back painful and tackled it head on. For me the biggest part was my emotional state, and being truly encouraged to do what I … Read how I did it…
How I did it: It all started when I finished the first ever bike I'd built by myself. Then, a perfect storm of high fuel prices (Diesel over $4/gallon!) and my girlfriend's car crapping out (I let her use mine) ended up putting me on the bike to and from work every day. After a while, you get addicted and start looking for longer routes home, just so you can ride your bike more. Read how I did it…
Dragon3533 is thinking ALOT!!!
How I did it: I ride recreationaly and wanted to ride even more, luckily the gas prices got so bad (I drive an F150) I ran out of excuses and had no choice. I commuted to work every day (severe weather dependent) and logged in 1,500 more miles in 2008 than I rode in 2007. Sundays or Mondays I would take my food for the week and my dry cleaning to my office and ride everyday, changing there. Baby wipes were used as a make shift shower and some col… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I pack a backpack the night before with my work clothes, get up a few minutes earlier in the morning, and brave the san francisco hills to get to my office. Once there, I change out of my biking clothes and into my work outfit. It helps that I can dress rather casually for my job (slacks, cotton shirts). It means I can transport wardrobe items that don't wrinkle easily. Also , I wait to put my makeup on at my office… Read how I did it…

THINGS I CAN NOW DO ON BIKE (that I couldn’t before so much):
1) go to fruitstand on corner of Lville Hwy (and actually buy fruit)
2) go to MARTA bus (on Lville Hwy or W Ponce)
3) go to cafe on Hugh Howell on a sunday morning (IE no traffic)
IMMEDIATE GOALS:
1) go to library/post office/bank/ downtown Tucker
2) go to cafe Hugh Howell at ANY time (rush hour, etc)
3) go to nature preserve on Ponce/Clarkston
NEXT GOALS:
1) go to MARTA thru back roads/neighborhoods
2) go to beginning of Stone Mt trail at any hour
3) go down Chamblee Tucker area (The Loop Grill, etc)
CROWNING ACHIEVEMENT:
1) take Stone Mt trail all the way to Decatur/Oakhurst
2) take La Vista rd into town (Atl)
3) utilize ‘cliff’ system, thus being able to go ANYWHERE in metro Atlanta w/o paying MARTA (if this is possible.. I think it is)
when I’ve completed all this i will count this goal as done and I’ll be AWESOME
I reserve the right to wait till Spring if it becomes too schniggly in the winter months

I am not a fan of cars. I don’t enjoy driving. I don’t appreciate a nice car or the expense that goes into maintaining it. I would love to bike my way to and from work and school everyday. I would love to do away with car ownership all together. I have a 5 year old so that complicates things quite a bit, but I am planning for the future and trying to implement bike riding into my current schedule as much as I can.
So, this isn’t going too well.
I am at college now & didn’t bring my bike.
Lo & behold, I won a bike.
Pretty awesome.
I ride it to class sometimes.
I went on one bike ride with a friend.
That’s about as far as my bike riding goes.
Soon, it will be too icy to ride.
& besides, the lock is frozen, so I couldn’t ride it even if I wanted to.
I hope things are going well for you all!
freefloatingsoul is way past distressed.
Poor thing got caught out in the rain. When I went to rescue it, it was all cold and wet.
Fingers crossed that it wont rust.

ANOTHER small ride! can I manage a modest ride around the block every day until I become braver and stronger? that’d be something all right

yay….
though now, I must confront my inherent shapelessness (as in, damn, am I out of shape!)
before was easy to blame on that Dirty Old Cigarette, but chugging up that hill like it was K2 really got to me.
I guess I need to feel pleased I got out there at all – got to work on that – the being pleased, that is. The being able to suspend my disbelief re. it being “oh so great of you to be out there riding when you haven’t touched the thing in over 2 years” as opposed to seeing it as PATHETIC, in that ‘look at Lance Armstrong, then look at your sorry self’ way… ah well.
the other thing that strikes me is how inherently BRAVE you must be to ride a bike in this town – or anywhere, i guess
you really have to claim your corner of the road, even in those suburban roads where nobody saw fit to install as much as a sidewalk for a poor beleaguered lapsed cyclist
I actually feel sort of bad for the cars swooping by me, while at the same time I’m kind of annoyed, too. I’m tempted to go out there on the bike back out on Cooledge Rd at 5:15pm with a sandwich board reading “don’t like me blocking your road? Contact your local city council person about installing bike paths around here”
but it’d probably be easier in the end just to go through the seldom-traveled residential neighborhoods
plus I think that’d be hard to coordinate – balancing a sandwich board & all
I want to ride my bike more..yes,i would love to do this as i am sick of driving cars..now just want to have fun riding my bike as i’ve purchased a brand new bmw bike
jessieb4cnusb swam a mile and did some crunches today.. tomorrow jogging or lifting
Today when I walked out the trash I realized if one of my goals is to do a triathalon then I will have to ride my bike again. I set this goal last year and never worked on it so I guess nows the time. I just brought it out and all I have to do is add some air in the tires and wash it off a bit. At least getting it out is a start.

if i don’t start riding this thing soon I’m gonna SELL IT – even if only at 1/4 of what I (stupidly) spent on it
