I don’t even have to do much while I’m there to enjoy KC. Part of the fun is knowing that there are things ahead to do…Crossroads Art District and the Power & Light District, to name a couple.
We had our annual BBQ feast at Gates Barbecue, Wednesday evening. There was enough left over for lunch the next day. It always seems so hedonistic to eat there. Meaty good fun. Once a year is enough for me! And I enjoy people watching there, too.
We looked at two schools while we were there. UMKC was interesting, but not enough green space for Darling 3. (Okay…Darling wants an urban setting with lots of green space. Goodness gracious, this is an interesting challenge…) But it is still on the list of possibilities.
Lastly, we went to Rockhurst University. Darling liked the individual attention. I saw her excited about academics for the first time at this school. We had the most enjoyable discussion with a communications professor. I liked the progressive development of the school from all boys high school to university status, and growing. Drawbacks: for Darling 3 – no football team, for Hubby and me – it’s pricey.
I’m not sure where or when our next road trip will be. Maybe, Hubby and I will take a train trip to visit some Missouri Wineries in the fall :)

Destination: Kansas City
This will be a busy two day trip. We are taking Darling 2 back to school. That involves getting her settled, stocked up, and ready to roll for school. Then we are taking Darling 3 to look at two colleges in KC, one large and one small.
Although nothing is planned, there will probably be dining and playing in in either Westport or Country Club Plaza tonight. School tours are scheduled for tomorrow. Since tennis started this week, and school starts next week for Darling 3, our push for college touring is slowing.
More road trips will happen this Autumn!

Missouri State University is a definite possibility for Darling 3. The drive was interesting in that it is through the Ozarks. Making the round trip in one day was a bit taxing.
We ate at Planet Sub, per Darling 3’s request, and it was yummy! We still did not get a good sense of what is “happening” in the city of Springfield. Maybe another time.

Springfield,MO
We will be looking at Missouri State University. I think Darling 3 will like it. Darling 2 did not like it because it is big and not specialized. When I took Darling 2, I did not get a chance to get into the city of Springfield. This time, I hope to do some exploring.
