... and now for a lesson in Knuckle busting ... 2 years ago

I bought a 1961 Morris Minor back in 1974—“I’ll take $200, and bring a battery it runs”. It was showroom quality and it got 60 miles per gallon and but only had a 948cc engine. This little british car just needed a little more get up and go. I lucked into a 1275cc engine and transmission last year and stripped it down to the last nut and bolt. Now for the fun part …

Great advice:
Label the parts and put them in Ziploc baggies. Put each assembly in a cardboard box and label it ( you might not finish the project and whoever takes it up again will need this. Even you when you start rebuilding it.) Get the service manual for your vehicle it will be you guide when you ask yourself “now, where does this widget go?”. Be patient and clean every part twice when you reassemble it. Remember the torque wrench is your friend.

...so he can at least make the “Tool Tyme Tim” noise. You know, the one he makes whenever he sees a new piece of equipment? It sounds kind of caveman-ish and guttural?

Anyway, I can easily see myself in a set of old blue coveralls, daubed with grease, and frittering away a Saturday afternoon under the hood of a beat-up, old klunker grunting to myself and muttering things like “Need more power. More POWer!”

All guys need this. It’s healthy for our self-esteem. :)
