I want to stop buying stuff, but it has nothing to do with saving money for a vacation or a shopping spree. Humanity is on a downward spiral to total annihilation and is taking the rest of the planet down with it. At the root of it all is our addiction to buying stuff.
Buying stuff has become somewhat obsession for me. I’m constantly thinking of how I’m going to spend my next pay check. I want a new couch, a new outfit, new shows, highlights, a blender, etc. It’s all so distracting and keeps me away from focusing on what really matters. From now on, no more buying stuff. It has to have a real purpose.

... that I achieved my goal of getting a part time job! Woot! But I have to save as much money from my job possible to achieve my goal of saving $10,000.

Usually when I’m home during the uni holiday my mum and I do a fair bit of shopping :P I’ve always had to mail stuff to my house in Melbourne because my bags often end up being 10 kilos over weight!
I’ve been home for 2 and half weeks and so far I’ve bought a dress, cardigan and stockings to wear to a wedding while home and fabric to make a coat (which I’ll hopefully finish before the wedding so I can wear).
Other than I’ve bought perfume for a friend for her 21st, and hens night present for the friend that’s getting married… but I don’t think that counts because they were gifts for other people :P.
Only 1 and half weeks to resist going to the shopping center, then I’ll be back to poor student status and won’t be able to spend money anyway.

Stuff does not make a person happy, which sucks, because I rather like stuff and I know it doesn’t make me happy, but I wish it did… but it doesn’t and that’s the truth of it.
I have 3 bags of stuff that I’m about to send to the op shop, it all either, doesn’t fit (some of it once fitted, some of it never fitted), doesn’t suit me, or it’s just plain junk that hasn’t lasted.
sigh I think I’ll just have to stay away from shops all together, unless I actually need something… instead of ‘grazing’ stores.

No more clothes, nothing fits any way. Except maybe for Tracey’s wedding, but I have to absolutely love it and it must fit me when I buy it not when I think I’ll put the weight I lost after being sick back on.

Underwear...

It’s my greatest weakness. I’ve bough 20 new bras since I’ve been home for the holidays… I did need them though… I’ve been wearing the wrong size for years because my correct size was difficult to find, but then I found them in my size. I’ll go through all my old bras that don’t fit and only have those 20. I just have to stop buying more!

Well i’ve stopped buying magazines because I stopped going into the magazine store, maybe I just need to stay away from all stores? Cosmetics are my problem, I’m buying new stuff before I finished my old stuff, so I figure I’ll go through all my stuff when i’m back in Melbourne and I’ll a list of the only the stuff I need to help a keep a rein on my bad habit

I see there is no option for “failure”. Only success and giving up.
There’s a philosophical stance if ever I saw one.

I just packed my stuff and I have 10 kilos too much stuff. The plane allows for 30 kilos -They technically tell you it’s 20 kilos but they let you have 25, then you pay $18 for ever kilo over that, but if you have more than 30 they don’t let it on the plane. I came here with 24 kilos worth of stuff in my suit case, it’s now 34 kilos. I have so much freakin’ stuff! GOSH. I’m going to stop buying clothes, I have more than enough. I’ve cut down on my cosmetics a lot, I’m going to make a list of stuff I actually use and only buy it when it’s run out -so in that regard to that I only need liquid foundation and conditioner at the moment. I’ll have to buy a truck load of stuff for uni, it’ll be uber expensive too -the phlight of being a fine arts student… at least dad pays for that (though I tend to go nuts with and buy lots of stuff I really don’t need because i think “dad’s paying!”.
:S
