Easter is here and Lent is done! DR gave me chocolate for Easter to end my Lenten fast of sweets with. :) It was hard and a very good thing for me. I need to keep the sweets to a minimum in my life now. 6 years ago

How am I doing? Very well! Barely even craving jelly beans anymore, lol! Actually, the sugar cravings have largely died down, thankfully. I am more used to having fruit for sweet snacks or a cup of yummy hot tea. I need to learn more about how simple carbs affect blood sugar and work on that next probably. But one fault at a time, haha. 6 years ago
This is going pretty well. Ate one cookie accidentally but otherwise, I have avoided sweets. Not that I haven’t wanted them, lol! But I have successfully distracted myself. For the cookie I ate, it was in a box lunch and I ate it without thinking. It was peanut butter – not a favorite. I think if it had been chocolate chip I would have been drooling over the chocolate and realized I couldn’t have it. But because it was peanut butter, it didn’t trigger the same thoughts. Oh well. I have avoided all the donuts and pastries at work and all the deserts and snacks at the conference/retreat I went to this weekend. It is important to break the desire…. 6 years ago
Doing pretty well. This is really tough. Accidentally found myself in the ravages of the Vday section in Target last night and it smelled like chocolate and cinnamon candy….. oooooooh! I soooo miss it. Ugh. Another month and a half….. 6 years ago
Another good day. Not even tempted. Had applesauce after dinner and it was good! 6 years ago
All went well. Really craved something sweet after a very spicy dinner of red curry chicken, but since I had nothing in the house, I was out of luck. whew! 6 years ago
Walked right past the big oozy box of apple bear claws in the kitchen this morning.
Passed up dessert at lunch.
Forgot and added sugar to my hot tea at dinner at Thai House. They didn’t have splenda and I reached for the sugar out of habit. I did look for splenda first, but I had apparently forgotten why I was looking for it….
My friend ordered the steamed banana and rice in coconut milk dessert and they brought two… oy. I only had half of mine. And as he said, it has beans and rice in it, does it really qualify? And I had never tried it. And the guy was hovering to see if we liked it. So, I had to, right?? Not all that sweet. More like having oatmeal with bananas than dessert.
Not too bad I guess. At least no jelly beans have snuck in yet. 6 years ago
So far, so good.
But today I was craving potato chips…
that’s cannot be a good thing, heh. 6 years ago
So far, so good. heh.
Had natural no sugar added applesauce for after dinner. Amazingly, it worked to appease the sweet tooth.
But then, I’m sick and easily distracted, haha. 6 years ago
Some of my head drugs can cause blood sugar to rise. Although mine is still okay, it has shown a rise and that is not a good trend. So, I am giving up sweets for Lent to help me break the sweets and sugar habit. No sweet tea. No cokes. No candy or cookies or donuts or any of the treats the reps bring to the office.
I can have things that are naturally sweet, like fruit. Or sugar free. etc.
I have a major sweet tooth so this will be tough….... 6 years ago
