Finish What I Start and Start What I Dream 2 years ago

I have a few projects that are either unfinished or still in the planning phase. I also want to program for microcontrollers as a hobby, start using C again, learn C++ (maybe), and try Logo, Ruby, ASM, and Perl.

My favourite language is Python because it is powerful and easy. But I know C is more powerful and faster but hard. And if you want to know how to optimize code you’ve got to use some ASM, and try writing code for a microcontroller.

Logo interests me because of the “turtle” feature. I might just make a Python module to provide this feature. Perl interests me because of regular expressions, which I learned through shell scripting (my 2nd favourite so far) how useful they are. Then again Python does have some RE functions. Finally I want to look in to Ruby simply because of the hype.

That’s all really. I don’t like redundancy all that much.

Personal Project II 3 years ago

It’s painful for me to learn English, especially English word. So I’m counting on dictionary (stardict or google’s one) when I read English article or surf web.

But that could be changed if I can write a tool to record all unknown words for a particular article or web page.

I want to write a program to track my funds. But I’m too procrastinated to start.

I’m keen to spend a good chuck of my time going back to 32-bit assembler (have not touched it since university). I want to get a more in depth picture of pc architecture so I can better myself as a programmer, feel more confident as a programmer, & gain a real appreciation for whats going on in the higher level languages I use daily.

I would also like to learn the assembly language for a specific motorola chip used in an open source project regarding tunable EFI computers for cars.

I’ve got a bit of work ahead of me, but im keen as!!

My attempts to do this are limited to investigating RoR via Locomotive on OS X. So for the time being I’m putting this on the back burner.

In Rails in Ruby, for one. Then do a bit more in Python, for two. And learn some new language or technology, like XML and XSLT, XPATH, for three.
