Run a SUCCESSFUL small business

Today I decided to mark this done in correlation with deciding to scale back my business to only sell local music.

I’ve made money & have not lost anything from this experience. I’ve learned a lot & had a lot of fun. I’ve met some great people & enjoyed being able to help people out.

I can still advise people where to get stuff or get it on their behalf but I won’t be doing this as a business as such.

I have new opportunities to jump on & with the fall in the exchange rate it’s really the best time to get out of the import market.

Onward & Upward.
I will now have more time to focus on my new endeavours :)

is ticking along & picking up a bit. I’ve got more local band enquiries & also some orders coming in at a faster pace.

I’m not making this a huge focus right now because I am really busy but I still want it to work.

I’ve sold my first shipment/experimental belly dance dvds & have just ordered a second. They seem really popular & sell quickly so I’m going to continue this & see what happens :)

Still selling CD’s of course but that’s just ticking along. Got a few more local products on my catalogue too :)

So I started advertising for sale some belly dance dvd’s & I sold one within half an hour!! My suspicions about there being a hole in the market in this country are proving to be correct! I am going to keep it sort of conservative for now as I don’t want to oversaturate with them either!

I am really encouraged & excited.

I also sold some of my music stock very quickly as it arrived yesterday. I now have the largest amount of in stock items ever! It’s really great.

The order that’s been held up will add an extra 16 items to that list as well!

Things are growing that’s for sure :)

& today I am going to buy some equipment so that I can expand into CD stamping for local bands! I’m starting with my partner’s band.

I did some good networking & have managed to get my ideas out on paper. Work Work Work is required!

The pace is picking up.

I need to sit down & have a serious brainstorming session!! I have loads of ideas but need to get them on paper.

Well, I’m experiencing some kind of hold up with a rather large order I placed but I have set in motion the processes that will lead to a successful resolution.

In the mean time I have placed a new order in which I am going to try to expand myself & start offering Belly Dance DVD’s!!!

This is obviously going to be a sort of separate endeavour from my very focused niche music sales. I am just testing it out with a small amount of stock at this stage but I have noticed that there seems to be a huge gap in the market in this country!!

My June figures have been very interesting as well. I really did sell a lot more than I spent which is excellent!

Yesterday my work gave me a free ticket to the Small Business Expo!

It wasn’t so helpful from my current workplace point of view but I got a whole BAGFUL of information, some of which will be VERY helpful for when I expand my business further!

It was an interesting experience just to go & see all of these stalls & learn about some of the services and support available for small business. It was funny because I got asked so many times about what sort of business I ran. Some people I told, others I didn’t (depending on the stall & it’s relevance)

So I will possibly be implementing some of the huge pile of reading I now have… :D

Business is trucking along though I’ve not mentioned it much lately… I’m waiting on my largest order ever & have much work to sit down & do tonight. I need to do some promotional work for a friend that I am distributing the solo project of & do some general promotion for the other local bands I work with.

I also have to make some decisions about whether to expand my business to encompass other genres locally. I’ve been approached by one local band’s management that have a higher profile in this country but this means a slightly larger investment on my part & they don’t fall within the area that I usually focus on. I need to mull it over a little more… it’s not really a problem as such, I’ve just not made any decisive action as of yet.

All is well, tonight I will put in some time because for a while now I’ve not really had to as it’s taken care of itself for the most part!
