Lisa
dares you to draw a peace sign on your sidewalk this week.
but I just filed them today through the free file program(picked turbotax as it’s so incredibly easy!!) I’m getting a refund for both federal and state, and apparently, the infamous rebate.

Yay that my 2007 taxes are filed on time. I met with my CPA about 2-3 weeks ago. I ended up owing about 1/2 of what he thought I was going to owe. He had a list of items I was to get him as they were deductions. It helped to go through Quicken to do this.
As I sat in the parking lot reviewing my state and federal taxes, unhappy about what I owe, I noticed he had my son labeled as my “uncle” apparently that made a huge difference in my taxes. I ended up not owing for state at all and it reduced my federal taxes by over 25%.
I’m happy that I got my taxes filed on time. The reason why it’s on time is because I handled it. Filed married but separate. Now I have to go back and do the other 5 yrs that Henry didn’t file.

Okay, so I’ve been procrastinating on this because last year I wound up having to pay 5K to the feds due to severence and bonuses that were taxed at a lower rate than what I needed. I completed my local taxes today, and they owe me 8 cents. I did the telefile worksheet for my state taxes and expect to owe the state around $44, while last year I got back $20. I’m still not wanting to do my federal taxes though, so I didn’t even start on them.
Tomorrow I will actually complete my telefile for the state and mail my local tax documents. Then I will tackle the federal taxes. I mean, I’ve got until Tuesday, right?

They say you shouldn’t do this, but we prefer to get a lot back because other than the 401k, we’re not great at saving.
Over $4000 this year, which went toward paying off the Toyota early, and eliminating 1 and a half credit cards. Fun to have a big lump to work with.

I thought I was going to owe $600, but when I estimated, I forgot the personal exemption deduction, so now I’m getting $200 back. Yay! I need it.

Out the door!
Although I considered holding onto my taxes, I decided this morning that I would just get them out the door. Better to have them gone than wake up on April 16th to discover that they were still sitting on my kitchen counter…
