She’s an avid reader but had never heard of it. I was very surprised! Their son has just deployed to Kandahar so I thought she would appreciate an honest, factual book about the conditions in the country.
She said that my neice is in Honors English this year, and they’d be going to the store for books this weekend and would probably get the original of “Three Cups of Tea” and the young reader edition.

Checked Greg Mortenson’s speaking schedule on the “Three Cups of Tea” website; no appearances in Washington State in 2009 at all! Found two lectures scheduled in Oregon in 2009 – one in Eugene in May. Ordered tickets online for that one.

I plan to release it through BookCrossing, maybe in front of a school or at the newspaper office where the features editor wants to do an article on BC.
I wanted to buy “Listen to the Wind” also, but it was out of the budget this time. It’s really a beautiful book.

to my cousin. My cousin gave me “Omnivore’s Dilemma” – and we often have similar taste in non-fiction reading. I think he’ll enjoy this book. At the bookstore the cashier commented that most people buy several copies of “Three Cups of Tea” as they always give copies away. Nice!

They did a story on the book and Greg Mortenson this morning. I was very excited to see it. I hope it caused all the viewers to take a closer look at the cause.

to my parents. They read a lot and I think will really like this book. The last trip they took they brought (as requested) school supplies and medicines for the local families so I hope they will donate to CAI.

I was having a discussion with a man yesterday. He believed that we could influence the world by bombing all our enemies. He called us the “big dog on the porch”. I suggested that Americans might not have so many enemies if we followed Greg Mortensons’s example. I told him about this book, but I seriously doubt that he’ll ever take the time to read it…or even remember the title.

My husband hasn’t read it yet so I’ll hang onto this copy until he has the time. Borders had copies on two of their front tables. I turned the top copy sideways so that it stood out from the stacks. It seems silly, but maybe it will draw someone to it who would have overlooked it otherwise.
