Sammie "You have to be willing to get happy about nothing." - Andy Warhol

NaNoWriMo 2009 3 weeks ago

I was thinking about skipping NaNo this year, especially with a baby to take care of as well. But then this plot idea popped into my head and I told Tez about it and it grew a little … and then he suggested something … and it grew a bit more … and then I though maybe I should do NaNo anyway … and Tez said “You should do it, you really enjoy it” ... and so I updated my profile on the site the other night and am prepping to get started on November 1. Whew!

Epic Fail 11 months ago

It’s 8 o’clock on the last night of NaNoWriMo 2008 and I’m sad to admit that I didn’t get much past the 10,000 word mark. I’m disappointed in myself that I didn’t push myself harder, but glad that I at least cracked the first 10k mark.

Leaving this goal in my list for a repeat effort in 2009.

Passed the 10,000 word mark 12 months ago

Reached my mini goal for yesterday, added another 2,668 words to my total for a final word count of 10,023.

Goal for today is a repeat performance – 2,500 more words before bedtime!

I’m 16,643 words behind where I’m supposed to be at, but I guess it could be worse. If I continue writing 2,500 words a day I’ll still make the 50,000 by the 30th.

I did it last year, I’m sure I can do it again :)

Slow Going 12 months ago

Morale is low. Word count is lower still. Need to get a move on with this!

At least I have my story outline to follow, and I am finding the story motivating – it’s just finding the time to write.

My goal is to boost my word count by at least 2500 today.

Prep 13 months ago

Starting my prep for this year’s Nano. Looking at how I’m going to do my plot outline and a better way of keeping track of my characters (last year they got a little confused!)

Planning on being ready to go as of November 1 with an outline of the major story scenes and my character charts.

Love NaNoWriMo 22 months ago

I’ve done NaNoWriMo four times previously, 2007 is the first year that I’ve “won” though. I love the experience and have met some fun and interesting people through the NaNo meetups.

I’m setting this goal for the 2008 NaNoWriMo. Bring on October!

Kasey. his arms are all around me and his tongue in my eyes.

So started writing the day, a little late.
It’s going well though.
I’m sure I’ll complete it…

Huh, so it’s approaching slowly again..I wonder if this year, I should try planning again. Last year’s largely unplanned approach resulted in a total disaster. =D;
Will start listing potential ideas, at least.

my first year. Totally worth the exercise!

The best thing I did (by chance) was have a sort of recurring element in the novel. For me, the main character’s wife was in hospital; this was tightly related to the story. Cool thing was, whenever I was stuck I sent him off to visit her. Usually while there he made some kind of progress—came to a decision about something, realized something, succumbed to grief, noticed something, remembered something. And yet, to visit one’s comatose wife is a perfectly normal thing, so it never seemed like a space filler, even if all he did was put some fresh flowers on the windowsill and straighten her bedclothes and exchange a few words with a nurse.
