So currently been to:
UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia. That makes 13, and currently planning a weekend break to Paris. :)
I’ve recently travelled from London to Singapore overland, then travelled the east coast of Australia and now i am in Tasmania. In 3 months i go to New Zealand before returning to London. By the time i get home it would be 19 countries i’ve visited. It got me thinking to visiting every country in the world. But these are the issues i have…
- how do i afford it?
- what is a country? Different sources list different numbers
- what about some places that arn’t always listed as countries? I really want to go to Greenland too but how do i decide which places to leave out and which to include?
- best route? Early plan is UK, Iceland, Greenland, Scandinavia, Europe, Africa, Australia, N Zealand, Asia, Middle East, Russia, Japan, S. America, N. America. Very sketchy i know but thats a basic route.
- political issues. Which countries are safe??
- timing. Visas, weather, jabs etc.
Who can live their whole life living in the same spot? There is so much more of this world to see. I have felt this for the majority of my life, and made excuses like having no money or too may responsibilites weighing me down to accomplish this dream. But, I cannot go on living another 26 years “waiting” for the right opportunity. I will set out soon with nothing more than a change of clothes, a bar of soap and a notebook, all stuffed into a small knapsack. I can’t live and die in the same place. I can’t be in the same spot next year knowing the same people. I must eat new foods! I must learn new dances! I must walk every inch of this earth before I can say that I’ve lived!
