Trying collaboration via the net.... 16 months ago

Not the most ideal way to work – and I do plan to actually visit the person I’m collaborating with asap. But I thought I’d send him a rough mp3 I’m going to record today of the song I want him to work on to accompany me. He lives a few hundred Kms from me so we need to plan the visit when both of us are available and have time to jam and become familiar with each others style (and can afford the fuel to travel). I’ve already heard some of his songs on myspace.

My first recorded song....... 16 months ago

Was put together by a TAFE class In 2002. The teacher and students helped me record it and it sounded pretty good if I say so myself.

I decided to submit my song to a country radio program that runs in Echuca, Vic, Australia. It’s going to be aired this Friday – yay.

This is like looking into a mirror when you practice performing 16 months ago

EEK – I don’t like listening to my voice on a recording. But it is a must do if I really want to get ahead in what I plan to do.

I've learnt the basics of recording...... 22 months ago

And know I can competently move sound to my computer. I’ve written some songs and would like to record them. It would be good if I can get this done before June 2008.

Recording from one computer to another 2 years ago

Last night I experimented with recording from one computer to another. I wanted to record something off the net that I could listen to, was available to download, but it wouldn’t download due to an incompatability with my present programs (or my own lack of knowledge). So by streaming it through my mac G5 desktop, connecting the G5 via the headphone port to my G4 laptop via an imic that was attached in the USB port at the G4 end, and using garageband (a music recording program), I was able to play the music and record it directly to garageband. From garageband I could add it to my itunes so I can enjoy listening to my friend’s music even when I’m not on line.

I’m quite pleased with myself for being able to work this out. I know I don’t need to keep the Garageband copy once I convert it to mp3 so I’ll be able to delete the original recording to save space on my computer.
