Week 2 saw a variation on the theme, or I suppose it forced me to accept some flexibility in a structured day. Overnight I developed a UTI, and after reading some of the consequences of putting off treatment I went straight to a med center. Actually a display of maturity in itself, to bite the bullet, see a doctor and accept the cost, without any delay tactics.
So instead of the usual routine I watched Meet the Press on mute as the highlight of a three-hour waiting room experience.
But later, I had a lovely Sunday, shopping with my mother, then doing crossword puzzles whilst listening to James Taylor with my mother, and finally indulging the darkest side of myself with the Oscar telecast.
I love my Sundays, but suspect the ‘me time’ would be even more rewarding if I could accomplish more of the productive 43T during the rest of the week. ;)

This was a bit of a strange first installment as I didn’t sleep at all beforehand. So perhaps it remains to be seen whether I will actually get up for my little Sunday thing. But around 10, after doing some other productive things and setting aside new fixations, I had a nice long shower, took care of myself, painted my nails, watched MTP (got to love the Capitol Gang, haven’t you?) and read a few of my much-neglected blogs. Realized this is the job for me.
It’s a great way to ease from one week into the next and take care of important (but fun/relaxing) orders of business. Just thinking how much more involved it will be when I have a bit of surplus income… the facial & foot scrub works, The New Yorker again, and yes the NYT. I picture myself so soon much snootier than I can currently afford to be. ;) Then a walk around town, a nice leisurely read on a park bench… Ah yes, this is all part of my idealized life, and what I’m doing now isn’t the half of it. But it’s absolutely time well spent.

This is both fun and good for me, so I don’t know why I shouldn’t be able to do it. It’s all a part of learning to use my time well, I suppose.
A couple months ago I came up with an idea to take several hours every Sunday morning for productive, relaxing ‘me’ time. A chance to catch up on some things I’d let go during the week. It’s a great idea but I just haven’t been doing it. :/
It involves:
—getting up by, say, 10. No need to rush; theoretically I’ll be doing grand things on Saturday nights again soon. ;)
—have coffee, a nice breakfast, shower.
—watch Meet the Press or similar nonsense whilst painting my nails, moisturizing my body, giving myself a foot scrub… nice spa stuff I’d never have time for during the week. And anything I should have done that I let go during the week (eyebrow pluckin’, say).
—catch up on all the professional, news and personal blogs I mean to read throughout the week, but never get around to. The magazines I subscribe to but don’t read… the Sunday NYT, someday.
And then off with a day.
If I can get into the habit of doing this four Sundays in a row I’ll consider this accomplished.
