I was sparring somebody far less experienced than me, but it was a live match, not part of practice or during class, so that counts!
I have been working with one of my instructors to predict and react to attacks sooner. I got lucky because my opponent used the same attack repeatedly—a shuffle and a roundhouse. I was able to respond with a spin hook kick to the head.
I did it twice. The first time I missed because I was trying so hard to keep the contact very light. The second time I did land the kick very gently on the side of the head.
Now to apply it against more advanced opponents!
