Getting a re-twist tomorrow. I can not wait till they get to six months, because I know they’ll be fully locked by then,

How I did it: I just wear my hair in a bandanna all the time, and do nothing to it...spending more than half the time in the woods, without being able to shower...that's about it. The photo's kinda crappy...webcam, you know. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I spent a long time making sure i definately wanted dreads as it is a big commitment. I did alot of research so i knew everything about them and how to maintain them etc. I found a few websites that told me everything i needed to know. I then booked an appointment with a guy in newcastle, it was expensive but definately worth having them done professionally. I've had my dreadlocks a year now and its just an awesome hairstyle to have. Read how I did it…

How I did it: It took me about 3 days to backcomb my whole head, because I was doing them myself. I started from underneath, and worked my way forward, in imperfect sections. I ended up with 72 by the time I was done. Read how I did it…
How I did it: A couple of friends of mine, one of whom has had dreadlocks for nearly two years now (I beleive), knotted up the hair into (random) locks, mostly by back-combing, and provided some advice on care. Now they'll have to grow and mature. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Weighed the pros and cons with input from people who've been through it. Thought long and often about whether I was really committed to them, which included accepting the inevitable buzzcut whenever I cut them off.Research on the internet-- Google "dreadlocks" and check out sites for how-to, maintenance, products, etc.Got a friend who had dreads and had done dreads before to do mine. Saved me a few hundred dollars and it was m… Read how I did it…

most of my hair is now rather dreadlocked, some of it is still loose though…I find just wearing a bandana all the time and ignoring it, as well as not washing very much, works very well for dreadlock formation.
this isn’t just because I’m gross, it’s because my job involves camping in Yellowstone for eight days, every six days…and I can’t shower during that time, so.

After I came back from 8 days in the wilderness, there are a couple very natty yet quite nicely dreaded sections of hair on the back of my head. So since I wear a bandana or a hat always, and since camping for 8 days every other week is gonna be my job for the next four months, I’m gonna see what happens if I just let it happen, not ever comb my hair but just try to make sure the sections that get tangled are relatively even and straight and clean.
And if it doesn’t work out I’ll just chop it off and start over.

my mom disapproves of the idea of going natural i hate my permed haid & i wanna hack it off.but my mom keeps criticizing me and telling me I’ll look bad if i do get them.last time i checked the hair was on MY head not hers.& aren’t mommies supposed to encourage their kids dream? not down them.It sucks but im jus gonna have to wait til i move out to get them. :[

I can’t remember how long I’ve been neglecting my hair, but it’s been a few months. I just use Dr. Bronner’s residue free soap. I think my hair is progressing nicely. I have a bunch of matted sections and the back of my hair is really forming nicely. My only concern is that one side of my head isn’t really dreading much. I think it’s because I sleep on the other side. I’m not really too concerned because it’s getting a little better. The only thing I really don’t want is one massive uni-dread.

I’m waiting until my hair gets a little bit longer. Closer to 10 inches or so. I don’t really like the look of short dreads so that’s why I’m waiting. My hair starts to dread naturally sometimes, but I can usually comb those out with patience. I can’t wait. Right now my hair is about 7 inches long right now.
littlejude is a storm in a teacup.
i’ve said it on a few occasions, but once i fall pregnant, i want to have dreadlocks – i’ll need to start a fund for that soon :)
Smirk175 one day at a time.
the “Knotty Boy” dred shop in Vancouver is THE shop to go to…. if you can get there haha.
Otehrwise, some salons have a stylist willing to do it… but its really expensive, cause it takes like at least 4 hours.

I’d advise you to watch this video, find a friend, and do ‘em yourself lol. You’ll love ‘em even more if you do your own, and save a ton of money, too!
