An interesting blog entry here:

Five tools to help track your browsing. I’ve started using 8aweek which keeps track of my browsing and limits me to 20 minutes a day browsing my ‘time-sink’ sites, then stops me. Obviously it can be turned off, but so far it’s been a great tool to alert me when I’ve slipped into time-sink mode.
Firefox only, and it does keep track of what you browse, so if privacy is an issue you may not like it, although you can turn this off at the cost of more limited info about your habits.

Went well to start with, but I’ve started to slip back into old habits and today was the worst day so far… so, as of right now, no more pointless browsing.

Sometimes I really think I mean it when I say to myself “I’ll just check this blog for 5 minutes then get on with some work.” Working on a computer all the time and needing access to the internet for what I do, it’s all too easy to get sucked into pointless browsing.
Well, it stops today. I’ve tried to limit random browsing to 2 hours per week, but it doesn’t work. So from today it’s a total ban on anything that isn’t work-related or otherwise needed.
