Harijan Romantic Self-Knowing Believer
i got to see Obama speak in february of 2007 in Los Angeles. his words were captivating, his movements strong, yet humble. he spoke to every generation standing there. the more he spoke, the more i realized that a leader stood before me. a good, sturdy, amazing human being filled with light and compassion. this is what we need, i thought. this little rally was held in a park with maybe a couple hundred people. he stood on a modest platform and there were a few camera crews in the back and a group of high school singers sang a few songs before the soon-to-be president came on stage. it felt like a high school assembly. i liked how small it was. it allowed him to be more intimate with the crowd and he was practically an arms length away from most people. i am also quite impressed at the numbers he’s been able to attract since then, but i feel honored to have seen him amidst the beginning. i am so in awe right now. i’ve never been happier to be an American. I’ve never felt such relief from the horror of what the future of America was becoming as our “favorite administration” plummeted us into the depths of a volcano. for a long time, i was simply horrified. since last night, however, i’ve been breathing better. a breath i haven’t been able to exhale completely since i became aware of American politics. its good feeling. this is MY president.

At that time it was his largest crowd to date (he’d quickly blow these numbers out of the water). An great experience.

skyviewexpress is enjoying the typically unpredictable weather of Oregon...
I went and saw Barack Obama speak at the Portland Waterfront Park in Portland, OR. It was AMAZING! I would love to see him speak again. There was a women standing next to me crying as he spoke. It wasn’t his best public speaking, but it definately touched alot of people, and gave alot of people hope. I’m happy to see him as an official presidential nominee.

I saw Obama twice when he came through Oregon this year. It was fantastic.

I wasn’t sure I could go, given I had just returned from a two-week working vacation and was EXHAUSTED. But when I hopped in my car after work and heard Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” on the radio (he was schedule to be at the rally), I knew I had to go!
With more than 21,000 of my fellow “hopers” surrounding me, I listened to Barack Obama speak to an audience representing every piece of America.
I am so happy I was a part of the rally on the eve of the Indiana primary. Whatever happens in this election, I’ll know I’ve done my part.
Voted first thing this morning!

I saw Barack Obama speak at South Bend Washington High School on April 9, 2008. My friends, my wife and I were roughly 15 feet from the stage. He looked tired for the first 20 minutes or so, but then seemed to perk up at the end.
